This is shaping up to be a good story! I'd love to hear more of it!

While it's understandable that you need a break, it's actually against FFn's Tearms of Service to post arthur notes as chapters. Some do get away with it, but some do get caught and usually decently-writen stories like this one. Second No one else's opinion of a story should matter. Just yours. Sure, reviews are great, but you shouldn't feel disheartened if you don't get any for a while. Sometimes people just don't know what to say (good or bad), so they don't write anything. Either that or they don't typically review. I'm one of them. I do have to wonder, what research you've done on this situation and child abuse victums in general. The lack of details and backstory make it look not well researched. Plus there are some inconsistancies that do kind of don't make sense.

First: Sophie seemed to trust her new "dad" rather quickly, but is otherwise isolated in their room. And, for reasons unknown, appeared to be tarrified of Arnold of all people. What detail you've given, doesn't scream child abuse either. I understand you want to keep it a reasonably low rating, but it typically takes a lot more then yelling, pushing or shoving to take a child from their home. Kids who wind up in the system are usually regurally beaten within an inch of their lives. Neglected and starved, amoung other things. So, I'd consider doing more research, looking at previous chapters and determine how you want to present the story.

Also, I know it's only been a few days (storywise), but allowing the girl to self-isolate isn't going to help her. She should be encouraged to socolize, even if she's just eating meals at the dinner table or stepping outside for some fresh air. I understand that you don't want to rush the story, but even if in the next chapter you had the ocs sitting at the table for a meal (even if the child doesn't speak), then it'll be a start tword's recovory.

I wouldn't want to know what Sid would do here... :D :D :D
