It was a little more sketch-like than the first chapter, but I didn't think it was poorly written, just a little rushed.

Anyway, loved the idea. Again, had NOT thought of this. Any of this. Loved Gamora's dialogue, and I thought the Red Skull was good too.

Damn though. That memory/story sequence was rough. I felt so bad ;(

If it helps, Loki's death in the comics set off one of the (arguably) best Loki-arcs we've had of the post-Hiddleston era; Loki, Agent of Asgard.
In the comics, he dies (this is second-hand information, I'll admit, so I don't know how it happens) and comes back as a little boy in France. Upon learning who he really was/is/will be/it's confusing, he joins the Young Avengers. However, just when he thinks he's got it all, a future Loki annihilates his soul and uploads a copy of himself into the kid's body, creating Teen Loki.
Grappling with guilt-is he the murderous King Loki, or the weapon created to kill Kid Loki?-he continues to work with the Young Avengers, knowing they don't even trust him as far as they can throw him. Eventually, he leaves the group to become Asgard's one-man (or, occasionally, one-woman) secret service, kicking off the Agent of Asgard series.
Even though I haven't gotten to read these myself as I've heard they contain a few non-kid-friendly scenes I'd prefer not to have running around in my brain, you seem pretty down about Loki's death, so I thought you'd want to know. After all, you're a brilliant author with a beautiful writing style, so I can't let you go crying, now can I? I guess this was more of an info-dump than a review, but heck-if it might put a smile back on the face of an Avengers fan, I'll ramble away. XD
Seriously, though. This story is wonderfully written, even though it's only a chapter long. It keeps Loki perfectly in-character (which, as someone who personally tends to go OOC, I admire) and takes the initiative to explore his feelings and opinions on his powers, which is something I haven't seen too much of in combat-centered fics as of late. While most "Loki's assassination attempt succeeds" stories I've read focus on humor and sass, you take root in the emotions and drama, turning a thousand-word one-shot into a mini work of art.
Whatever your secret to master-storytelling is, keep at it. "Like Magic" is testament to the fact that, some way or another, it's working.

Beutiful. Simply beautiful. I love the idea, it brings back the memories of the strong, clever and resourceful Loki from the first three movies. I wish we could see more of Loki using his Jotun abilities on screen. Thank you for writing this. And let us not lose hope - Loki will come back, he always does.
