Reviews for Loyalty and Love
Guest chapter 33 . 6/12
Awww. This story was AMAZING! Gosh, you have no idea how many times I wondered what was going on in Rain's head during the movie. Thank you so much for detailing her life and narrating this beautiful story from her point of view. You expanded on the canon characters so well. I chuckled here and there at Spirit and Rain's battle of wills. He really found her match, didn't he? I loved how you elaborated on Rain's inner struggle. Her relationship with both Little Creek and Spirit was just so very well written. I didn't want this story to end. It was so perfect!

I enjoyed the backstory you created for Rain and it's so awesome how you incorporated Sierra, Storm and Bonita in this story as well. I could go on and on about this. The friendship and tight bond of Little Creek and Rain was shown so well throughout the story. The reader really understands why she loves her owner so much and Little Creek's soft, gentle side is captured perfectly.

Then we have Spirit. I have to admit, I was worried about how he would be depicted in your story because he is my favorite character and so many authors mess up his personality, or simply fail to capture his true essence. You on the other hand, delivered everything so darn well! Spirit's wild, courageous and selfless nature was highlighted amazingly well. I loved his protectiveness towards Rain and the little twist you added with him saving her from crazy Great Conquest. The love story between the main couple was slow, budding and believable. I liked the development as they slowly came to understand one another and fell for each other. I liked how Spirit's instant attraction towards Rain blossomed into deep love over the course of time. And how Rain let her guard down allowing herself to fall in love with him. It was so sweet and romantic. Spirit having the chance to run off but not doing so for Rain warmed my heart. I also really adored the enhancement of their famous swimming scene. It was perfect!

Overall, this was an excellent, excellent story!

Guest chapter 33 . 1/22/2019
Aww, thanks for the shout-out! And I will definitely be here for the sequel, can’t wait!

Spirit and Rain’s reunion was so sweet and the pay-off to her choosing to go with him was so rewarding after all of the consideration she gave her choice in this chapter. I also loved her perspective on Spirit and Little Creek’s goodbye and her analysis of the concepts of loyalty and love at the end. Really looking forward to seeing what you’ll do with the sequel!
Ilovechips4ever chapter 33 . 1/22/2019
Hi. Gosh, I always hated read the ending of a story, it always break my heart to finish a adventure. Yet, I’m super happy that you will make a sequel. You can be sure I’ll read it.

I always thought they should make a sequel to Spirit where they see Little Creek again, at least one time, and were they have a foal (whatever it’s their son from Spirit Riding free or not). So you bet I also happy to read that Little Creek will appear in your sequel and I hope you’ll put a foal of them.

This was a very emotional chapter. I love how you introduced Rain decision by Aranda and even Great Conquest. Spirit and Rain are so cute together.

I can’t wait to see Rain meet the herd, especially Esperanza, something tell me that they’ll get along well, maybe she will even train Rain since she’s the actual lead mare. Not at beginning because Rain need to prove herself but when it will become too hard, Esperanza will help her. Spirit and Esperanza could even have a conflict with the herd (who agree with the black mare about Rain) because they support Rain.

Can’t wait to read this. Take care and good job.
Guest chapter 32 . 1/13/2019
Good recap of the train scene; this really shows the other horses’ admiration of Spirit. Great Conquest’s changed attitude toward him was really interesting in how it evolved from looking down on Spirit to praising him for Spirit’s incredible heroism.

I also liked how the horses came up with “Spirit-Who-Could-Not-Be-Broken” just like Little Creek does because it shows how connected he is with them since he thinks the same way they do.

I’m so looking forward to the last chapter and I’m really curious whether you’re going to cover the whole I Will Always Return scene or end it right after Spirit and Rain leave Little Creek and save the rest for the sequel. Guess I’ll find out!
Guest chapter 31 . 1/5/2019
While for the most part I like Aranda and her backstory, she kind of contradicted herself in her speech to Rain. She told Rain to choose her own path but then immediately made the choice for her (go with Spirit). I liked how she gave a positive description of the wild before she knew Rain’s situation though; that way Rain hears good things about life in the wild while knowing Aranda wasn’t trying to influence her at first.

Now that the other horses have returned, I’m really curious about whether Great Conquest’s attitude toward Spirit has changed since Spirit was the one who freed them.
Guest chapter 30 . 1/1/2019
For a second I actually thought you killed off the other horses before I remembered they’re on the train with Spirit! Anyway, Rain’s near-death experience was interesting and it’s good to know the people are remembering their loved ones while rebuilding the camp. The colt’s faith in Spirit being okay was adorable. Young horses everywhere seem to look up to him!
Ilovechips4ever chapter 29 . 12/24/2018
There it is, my favorite moment in the movie. My gosh, poor Rain.

You really wrote this so well.

And I think a sequel would be really interesting. I hope you write it.
Guest chapter 29 . 12/17/2018
This chapter was just as emotional as I hoped it would be and it’s so sweet how even as Rain thinks she’s dying she doesn’t want Spirit to be emotionally hurt because of her. I’m really curious about her recovery process while Spirit is away and how she’ll react to both him and Little Creek being gone.

And yes! I would love to read a sequel about Rain getting used to Spirit’s way of life! Most people who write post-movie fics just focus on their foals but I think you’ll do a really good job exploring Rain’s feelings about her new life and how she fits into the herd. Great idea!
Guest chapter 28 . 12/15/2018
You really captured the suspense and urgency of this scene. I could feel exactly what Rain felt the whole time. Also, it was a good idea to have Spirit and Rain talk about going back to his homeland before this chapter because it makes sense for the conversation to be calmer and for both of them to be more understanding if this is their second time discussing it.

Next chapter is probably going to be really sad and I am so looking forward to it!
Ilovechips4ever chapter 28 . 12/14/2018
Awesome. One of the best chapter yet. The moment between Spirit and Rain, the attack (I feel bad for the Lakotas).

I was confused because last chapter, Spirit decided to stay and there he want to go back to his homeland. But the chapter is still great.

I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Guest chapter 27 . 12/9/2018
Interesting that Spirit has decided to stay right before Little Creek is going to let him go! That’s going to be a source of conflict for sure.

I really liked the beginning of this chapter where Rain sees similarities to Spirit in the stag. It shows that she understands now how Spirit felt when he was chased and captured. Overall, this story is so much more detailed than most Spirit fics and I love that!
