Jess vs Mary!
Ragnarok666 chapter 28 . 12/31/2019
Obviously I'm expecting the bond between Raylan and Jess to grow stronger as time passes. It'd be good to see how Jess will react once Jacob comes after Raylan again for the whole brainwashing thing. Even if Joseph didn't order it, Jacob certainly would, now that the primary Judge training ground has been lost.

Given that the Judge wolves are supposed to be effective killing machines, I'll be waiting to see a future chapter where they go toe-to-toe against Cheeseburger. As Dutch made it clear in the game, the Fowler boys trained him well, but I doubt they prepared him for the current situation. Of course, the bear himself is also somewhat out for revenge, since the cult had planned to use the bliss on him, hoping they could get a judge bear that they could actually control.

I just hope Raylan won't end up as the Protagonist's sad ending.

Finally got around to reading this. Don't worry if you cannot update quickly. We all have lives outside here, after all.

Now, regarding the chapter, it's interesting to see the Drubmans have so much ordinance. Wheatley specifically said the Whitetails had been preparing for the war against Jacob for years, so you'd think there'd be a lot more supplies. But then again, the reaping order applied to all 3 regions, not just Holland Valley, so maybe Jacob's men already took a lot of it. Now it remains to be see just how well Hurk will fit into this alliance. Personally I'm still expecting quite a few people to feel if it weren't for fighting the cult some of them would be very tempted to shoot Hurk for his stupidity.

It was good to see Raylan and Jess made love. It proved beyond a doubt there's more to Jess than just the "killing mood," as Raylan's initial impression of her was at the lumber mill. Certainly didn't expect it to reach the point where even Boomer got exasperated at the whole thing (it just shows the intensity of the session). Still, hopefully this'll mark the beginning of where we get to see Jess's softer side. After all, the more time you spend with her, the more you can peel the layers to see what's under her exterior.

By the way, since you traveled to Fort Drubman this chapter, that's not too far from Lansdowne Airstrip. According to Jess, that was one of the first places the cult sealed off when Joseph gave the reaping order, ensuring nobody could get out of the county (somewhat like John's actions in Holland Valley in trying to take Nick's plane and his airstrip). But there's only three airstrips throughout the whole county, two of which (Nick's Aviation and John's Ranch) the cult already lost when Raylan liberated Holland Valley. Lansdowne is therefore the last airstrip still in peggie hands. If lost, their air support will be severely crippled. Sure, they can turn the roads into makeshift airstrips, but that'd impede their vehicle convoys.

Thus given all the firepower they got from the Drubmans, I wouldn't be surprised if Raylan decides to go assault that airstrip next.

Interesting to see you using a Clutch Nixon stunt in the helping in taking the radar station, didn't see that one coming. You also foreshadowed adding Hurk to the roster, something I can easily see causing problems for alliance later on. Also I'm curious to see if the cougar killing at the end was you trying to put Peaches into the picture later on.

On the other hand, because you mentioned the Chosen and air support, there's a vital location you may want to look at soon: Lansdowne Airstrip. If you recall, this was where Skylar Khors's voicemail was left about her trying to catch the Admiral, allowing her to finally get the money to get out of Hope County with Dylan.

According to Jess, Lansdowne was one of the first places Jacob's troops took over when Joseph gave the reaping order so that no one could get of the county. This is consistent with what happened in Holland Valley, where John was hoarding all the planes (including Nick's Carmina) and taking them to his ranch, preventing others from leaving.

However if you look at the whole picture, there are only 3 airstrips in the whole county: Lansdowne, John's ranch, and Nick's Aviation (there's none in the Henbane River). With Holland Valley free, Lansdowne is the last airstrip still in peggy hands, so taking that place would remove their air support. I'm sure they can still improvise by using the roads as makeshift runways, but that'd disrupt the supply and reaping truck traffic (not to mention those roads can be blocked by Whitetails).

I'm willing to bet once you have Hurk, Jess could bring this point up to Raylan. Since Hurk hardly learned anything save for blowing things up, he'd be a good candidate to take to Lansdowne to weaken their air power even further.

Nice to see the judge moose hunt turned out well. This can easily easily lead to a foreshadowing of what'll happen in the Whitetail Mountains. Since you've only reached the part of Raylan meeting up with Eli, I'll explain the importance of the cult locations (from a lore POV):

As it was explained in the game, the Elk Jaw was vital to the judge wolf conversion process, where the wolves are surgically operated on and administered the bliss serum. These wolves are specifically designed to be killing machines, to kill Whitetail militia. As such, this outpost would be very heavily defended.

The FANG center is also critical. It's from here that the judge wolves are trained in the event they weren't efficient enough. A loss here would mean the loss of the primary judge training ground. Now wolves don't need the bliss or training to become hunters, that's part of their instinct from the beginning (since it's a matter of survival), but that's not the point here. The point here revolves around Cheeseburger. Remember, only AFTER you've liberated the outpost does Eli ask you to talk to Wade Fowler about where Cheeseburger went, which could imply that BEFORE liberation, Eli didn't know what happened to Cheeseburger (though it'd be no surprise if he suspected the cult wanted the bear as they didn't keep that a secret).

The PIN-K0 radar station was an abandoned military outpost by the US Air Force before the peggies took over and brought it back online. It's from here that the cult monitors airspace and maintains air superiority over the Whitetail Mountains. It's also their primary chopper station here, so if lost the peggy chopper attacks won't be as effective anymore.

Finally, the Whitetail Park Ranger Station is where the cult's more elite snipers are trained. According to the Whitetails (if you talk to them at the Lumber Mill where Jess was found), if Jacob cannot break you via his indoctrination, he'll send you do the ranger station, where you'll be used as target practice for the cult's snipers.

If you decide to go after the judge wolf operation, this would be a good way to introduce Dr. Sarah Perkins. Remember, it doesn't matter what Jacob does in converting the wolves into judges. In the end they're still animals, and that means they still have their animal weaknesses, something that'll help out the Whitetails.

I'll leave it here for now, let me know what you think of this.
Ragnarok666 chapter 24 . 10/18/2018
Given the whole brainwashing matter, I can easily see this leading to serious loss of control once we reaching the point of Raylan being used to kill Eli. Naturally Raylan would accuse Jacob wasn't a real soldier, since he didn't have the guts to do his own dirty work, though I can easily Jacob saying that he merely used the same concept Eli used: using something he didn't expect (remember this is what Eli was saying to you when you first meet him to rescue some of the Whitetail militia, that you're someone Jacob isn't expecting).

Also, according to some notes if you talk to enough Whitetail militia, you could even do a flashback scene on Eli's part. Some of the Whitetail militia said Eli was actually one of the people who helped build Jacob's armory bunker years back, before Eli knew what Jacob was really planning. It'd explain why Tammy had some schematics on telling you where to go and such once you enter it.

In addition (again once you speak to enough Whitetail militia), the Whitetails claim that Jacob is actually even worse than the Father. This is because however warped and deluded Joseph's mentality is regarding the whole "loving embrace" to his cult followers, it's still a form of caring. By comparison Jacob just expects those under him to run into the fire and prevail regardless of the circumstances, and those who are weak get killed off. Thus to the Whitetails, Jacob only sees his cult followers as expendable pawns in a chess match against Eli (and this is before Raylan even entered the Whitetail mountains in the first place).

This would then further explain why Eli would later on ask Raylan to go back to the Grandview Hotel to rescue more Whitetails, otherwise the Whitetails would see him as little different than Jacob.
