an interesting to see would be Tobirama and Lee getting together long long after Minato's death since Minato isn't immortal like Lee and I don't think Minato would go with immortality even if the option was to be offered to him.

Honestly, he is probably one of the best possible partners for her. She is sustaining g his life, which means he is as immortal as she is. They could stay together forever.

So, bear with me here and please don't take this the wrong way, because it's definitely meant as a compliment. I was reading and had the thought that here Tobirama almost seems like...what Stephenie Meyer was going for with Edward? Not completely, but it struck me suddenly, 'huh...Edward might have been something like this if she were actually a competent writer'.

At this point I've read wayyyy more in the way of sporkings than the actual books, but I remember well enough, I think. What stuck out particularly was the sort of fond exasperation that we see, not just here but in a lot of interactions between them (Finishing the Hat, future-set Destroyer of Worlds sidefics...). There's also the smug satisfaction, and Tobirama is quite self-assured, it would border on arrogance except for the fact that he doesn't lord it over people and he certainly deserves it. But where those traits feel very, very condescending and assholish in Twilight, they work here, just because of who the characters are, and especially the ways in which Lee is not Bella Swan. Because even more than Bella, there's this element of quirkiness, strangeness, something different about her that colors just about every interaction she may have (I mean, it's really an informed trait for Bella but). The progression of their friendship is similar too - irritation at first, but then fondness as they get to know each other better. The fond exasperation is earned, and comments like "Perhaps you deserve to be lectured" and "A truly ridiculous woman" are endearing, because...well, first of all she's horribly drunk, but also we know what antics he's referring to, and there are all these other signs of affection and most importantly RESPECT that take away any sting those comments might have.

Not to mention the balance of power is completely shifted in the opposite direction. Still, something about the quiet confidence, the sly maneuvering. He's the steady, practical one, and it's not an informed trait. And the age difference, of course, but again here, you've demonstrated a very real connection. Their dry, sardonic banter is just a lovely thing... Yeah, idk, maybe I didn't explain myself well enough or the connection is wayyy more tenuous than I thought at first, but whatever. I actually like this pairing much more than I thought I would! It's great!
