You got the wrong Idea about the Gamer Ability. It's not about god complex or super powerful OC. If you do that, it will scream like a bad writers abilities to work.

You don't lack abilities, you lack a point to where stand. You wroted a story of over 200,000 words but failed on keeping it alive. The OC lacked consistency and true purpose. It wasn't an OC 3D, he was like *tracing paper*.

Focus on a theme, work a bit in the work and then try to concentrate in each character and interaction. Remember that nothing has to be perfected but try at least to keep the Main OC as a living being.

Use yourself as an example of an OC and divide your characteristics, mannerism and your ways of interacting to created a living person inside a story.

You do have DETERMINATION to keep going, you have proved that before. Now try and experiment, tell us what do you want to write and what do you want to do.

Hmm this could be interesting if it does fall into update limbo

I really liked the other fanfic for the most part, the parts I didn't like about the last one was the stuff not related to highschool dxd like the master and the really long dungeons, the first gamer would probably be amazing if you just had the MC not be a ass and allied with the fallen angels or the devil's or by himself while allied to or accompanying one of the factionsain character/characters

if the Gamer power won't fit then don't stress, just do what YOU think is best, listening to others opinions is important but, don't let them dictate the world you try to create, the main character can still create things from games without the powers by using basic magic in a creative way, Rasengan? Rottating condensed Mana ball! Chidori? Lightning hand with protective Mana coating on the skin! Double jump? Platforms of condensed air, or Telekinisis Ice platforms from water content in the air! I love this idea and want to see more of it so just use creative application of magic to add 1! New skill or so every 3 or 4 chapters and anything in-between can be him learning to use it or starting to learn a new one with a slow increase in progress, he can be a character that THINKS of life in game terms without actualy LIVING life in game terms. This is YOUR story so do what YOU think is best for its prolonged lifespan.

Personally I really like Douglas as a character, well One Gamer's Tale Douglas, but still I would love for him to stay even if that means getting rid of the gamer ability. I wouldn't a Douglas-esk character with pseudo-god powers that don't stem from the gamer ability.

I don't think it's necessary to involve the Gamer ability. Your Story is very intersting already an I'd love to see it continued. If you have trouble deciding what to do, why not do both and start a second story involving the Gamer ability, while this one stays without a Gamer, but I understand that writing two stories can be very taxing so it's up to you of course.

I'll be honest with you, man, I enjoyed both fics. The one scene notwithstanding... but I still enjoyed them. Been waiting to see what direction you'd take them in, or at least this one since you stopped writing for the first. So, my 'advice', if you can call it that?

Write the story how you feel it can go, in the direction you feel it should go. If you want to scrap this one and try anew with the Gamer ability, or if you want to write this one without cramming the Gamer ability in, then do it. Either way, you'll do well, that I'm certain of.
