Levana Fay chapter 8 . 5/16/2019
Ha! Poor Doc being crushed into the wall by the Majors bulk.

He managed to howl, good. I can well imagine Hans zeroing in on that call. Those soldiers are pretty stupid to not be worried after that.

Those traitors don't seem to get how dire the situation really is. Guess that's why they needed someone to do all their thinking for them for so long.

Gosh, you really highlight how crushing it was for all of his planning to come crashing down when the Titans attacked. He was on the cusp of victory and it was all snatched from him. Those traitors really have no idea.

Saved by Titan? Temporarily anyway. Lucky for Doc that Major is still thinking. If he'd run he'd've been scooped up in seconds.

The tension is rising. Will the Titan find them before Hans and Alucard do?

Ooo! They heard his howl. That Alucard was confused by Hans seemingly abandoning the hunt to check out a random werewolf was a nice touch.

Ah, so they now know that Titans will only go for humans.

I have to say, you really captured the suspense of hiding from a Titan here. Trying to be as still and quiet as possible as it walks around trying to find them. It knows they are there, can possibly smell their fear/blood and its only a matter of time... damn. The heart stopping horror as it finally finds them and just stares for a long moment. Ugh I shuddered.

Aww, Major knowing he's done for, doc not wanting him to give up. Major saving him and sacrificing himself. That's true friendship.

Yes! The AoT peeps are finally here!

Did Eren just... use his brain? Hold me, I feel faint.

What an entrance Hange, love it. I sniggered when Doc couldn't tell if Armin was a boy or girl. Anime problems, XD I actually love that Hange was the first to speak. First impressions are important and Levi's is terrible.

Lol, 'a face that resembled that of the horse he was riding', Slap on Titan reference?

I can't imagine that, after everything they have been through, being threatened by a new set of people is going to go over well with the super stressed Doc and Major. Just what is Levi thinking by putting a sword in their faces? If Hans gets there before he lowers it... Poor Levi.

Things are getting very interesting, I can't wait for the next chapter!
Levana Fay chapter 7 . 5/16/2019
I'm sorry, I hadn't realised you'd updated.

Hans' howling waking Alucard so suddenly that he bumped his head on the lid of his coffin. XD

I like the description of Alucard fazing through walls and ceilings to get outside faster. Such a simple power but literally every other vampire seems to not be able, or willing, to do it. I wonder why? Do they still think too much like humans? Are they just not powerful enough?

Alucard opening his third eye to scan the property was an incredibly nice touch. Feels very Dracula, really good acknowledgement of his past and the abilities he doesn't often(or at least obviously) use.

Oooo! Alucard is immune to Zorin's mind control powers because of the souls he carries? Very interesting detail.

Alucard transformed in Baskerville! Original anime throwback! :) The image of a white wolf and a black dog running around together is really nice.

Two grown men sharing the trunk of a car, I'm actually impressed the traitors managed to squeeze them both in. Major finding the bright side in their predicament; at least we aren't entwined, lol.

I like the logical discussion on the variables, very nice touch. It's sobering that he has to consider everyone might be a traitor. Mutiny is not a nice thing to have to confront. 50 years of loyalty thrown away as if it were nothing.

Wow, Doc. I chuckled when Major didn't bother refuting that their men would probably do those things to them. He's a realist, lol. XD

A werewolf howl, interesting. Howl first, then try diplomacy, lol. Lets hope they don't realise how screwed they are the moment the noise leaves him.

Aww. He's determined that his friend be the one to make it back alive. Now that's loyalty.

Schrodinger is a good rapid response messenger.

Of course she doesn't want to talk about it, poor girl. Being forcibly fed on so easily by another Vampire would be incredibly embarrassing. Then there's the fact it was Alucard, he did it infront of her own teamates and they all had doubted her loyalty. She must be insulted, furious and humiliated.

I'm very interested in what Pip has thought up. Very nice to see a more active role for him. :)

Off to the next chapter!
reader567 chapter 6 . 11/2/2018
Wow, the waiting was worth it, I mean, who would have guessed the freaks would betray the Mayor. Even though this was more of a character builiding episode than a story continuing one I loved it. Also this had a bit of a feeling of the extra Naruto episodes, although those were awful and yours is truly enjoyable. So... yup good work and I'll be waiting for next chapter
Levana Fay chapter 6 . 10/27/2018
Ah! Another chapter! Awesome!

A full week spent working in close quarters with sworn enemies? Sounds tough, I admire their fortitude.

I really like that you are highlighting the extensive planning and logistics that even the smallest mission requires, which is easily, and often, overlooked in favour of instant action. In this case, it's compounded by the problems of combining three distinct organisations while factoring in resource shortages and extreme risk scenarios. Bravo.

Interesting to see Anderson taking a backseat in the announcement. Quite the show of trust, really.

The reasoning behind who is going on the mission is well thought out. I can definitely see Pip putting his foot down after seeing Zorin, a badass Vampire, barely make it a few hundred meters alive.

It's worrying how much they will be relying on Milleniums' Freaks, but Anderson's presence should hopefully prevent any 'snacking' on survivors. Still, Millenium stands to lose much more than Hellsing or Iscariot on this mission. I wonder how the Freaks will react, knowing they are thought to be expendable.

So they hope to take a few specimens for study. On the surface it's a good idea, if a little risky. Underneath, its tantamount to admitting sleeper agents past their defences. I hope for their sakes Zeke has no interest in personally directing the ones they capture.

Anderson contemplating his faith was a nice touch. He definately underwent a change of attitude during the events of Hellsing, it makes sense that, when given time to think, he'd go over everything that had happened.

Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing. It needs to be said at least once every episode/book/chapter. In full. Every time I read it, I hear Crispin Freeman saying it. ;) (Incidentally, Chapter 4 of this story is the only one that doesn't have Integra's full name written out at least once. For Shame! Lol.)

Anderson making amends. Surprising, but given the prolonged period of calm he has found himself in, it's gratifying that he is shown to be adhering to his faith.

I am both glad and saddened that Anderson and Integra's apologising didn't devolve into an 'I'm more sorry than you are' crack fight. ;)

The apology for the fight in Ireland was interesting. Northern Ireland, which is where they fought, is part of the UK and therefore under Hellsing's jurisdiction. At the time, only about 38-40% of the population was Catholic, the rest was split between Protestant and Church of Ireland, with a handful of the percentage representing other religions. So it wasn't actually Catholic land and the Vatican had no reason to send Anderson at all, except to try and take out Hellsing's main weapon in a direct fight. I'm surprised Anderson hasn't twigged on that.

Integra's sarcasm is perfectly dead-pan. Love it.

I like that Integra and Anderson decide to try help Major with his aiming. Before it wasn't a problem because he wasn't really in danger. Now he could be eaten by giants. It puts his inability to defend himself into perspective.

So Major just casually mentions his Cyborg surgery. Odd. Neither Integra or Anderson seem to acknowledge it and they still react to him as if they think he's completely human. If they did hear him, wouldn't they just suggest he get a tune-up? Or new eyes? Instead they focus on his glasses prescription being wrong.

AxI scene. My analytical self exited stage left and my inner fangirl flounced to front and centre in happy squee delirium.

Ahem... anywaaaay. ;)
The blood rushed to her cheeks. Delightfully innocent, as expected of a realistic 'first kiss' scene. I'm glad Integra gave as good as she got. She's not one to allow the unexpected to keep her on the back foot.

"I have to leave you tomorrow, Sir Integra." - The Sir in that sentence was jarring. Alucard usually just refers to her as either Master or Integra. Rarely, he uses her full name to remind her of her position or prompt her to give orders (Brazil/level zero/kill Walter).

I'm glad sleeping next to Alucard felt weird for her. It feels much more realistic if there's adjustments that need to be made, things they'll have to get used to.

The Wild Geese seating themselves around Integra was a nice touch. Close, but not obtrusive.

Love the German throughout the chapter, particularly in the dining hall scene. Just reading through it you get how safe they feel letting their guard down when they know most people won't understand what they are saying. The whole thing about sitting with a superior was very well done. I especially liked that Schrodinger waited to see if Doc would get into trouble before seating himself and Hans' avoidance of the matter. If anyone was curious about his being a werewolf, seeing just how large he is up close will probably have cured them of it, lol.

Oh, the Freaks have gone rogue! Oh dear, and they waited for Hans to go round up Anderson, Alucard and Schrodinger for the expedition. I guess it was their best chance to do away with the Major. I get how they must feel. They waited for 50 years to make war, now they are hiding behind enemy lines, helping the ones they should be killing. These soldiers were happy to eat babies and civilians, their intentions were not as 'noble' as the Major's.

Thoughts: So, I re-read the entire story, and I realised that Alucard outed Major and Doc as Cyborgs in Chapter 4 during the blood discussion, to no reaction from anyone. At all. I'm embarrassed to say I missed it first time through, so perhaps some sort of reaction would be called for? It would have been an impressive feat of engineering during the 1990's when Hellsing takes place, it was completely unprecedented for technology during the Second World War. That takes Doc up from simple mad scientist to genius.

Alucard says he's aware they are cyborgs but doesn't say how. He then says he can smell that their blood is 100% human. So how does he know they aren't human? They look human, their blood smells human. There are many occult methods they could have used to extend their lives, so how does he know they are cybernetic? Can he hear the menchanisms in their bodies? Smell some sort of lubricant? Are their movements unnatural when viewed with a Vampire's third eye?

If yes to any of these, Seras should have observed, at least subconsciously, one of them and be shown to brush it off as nothing, such as a ticking that she figures is a pocket watch or something. This doesn't answer why no one reacts to the reveal, though. No one knew Major was a cyborg until Seras blew half of him away.

Also, in Chapter 3 you mentioned that the Major had rescued 27 civillians of varying ages that had made it to a rooftop. They haven't been mentioned since. Just imagine how they are handling an out-of-the-blue attack by Vampires, Zombies and Man-eating giants, only to be rescued by Nazis and end up hiding out at the Manor of a Crown sanctioned Occult Hunting Organisation that officially doesn't exist. ;)

I can't wait to read more. :)
