kaito's reaction and fear of shinichi leaving him is pretty much expected within the first few months at least since he did live most of his life thinking that his soulmate really didn't want anything to do with him so it wouldn't come as a surprise that he'd be kind of anxious and half-expected shinichi to come to his senses and break ties with him within around a year's time. good thing shinichi did come over kaito's place and it's really sweet of him to comfort kai the way he did. and kaito moving in with shinichi! i'd love to see more of that later. you could say i love angst as much as fluff i guess. rip.

Feels like a long time since the last time I read DCMK fan fiction~ Hello again! I really like their meeting with Ran, Aoko, and Hakuba. Shinichi really needs to prepare himself for the upcoming threat or physical pain from Chikage XD But it's wonderful to see how protective Kaito and Shinichi's best friend(s) are toward them :) The part when Kaito finally showed Ran his Soul Mark pained me... The precious boy needs all the love in the world TTTT I look forward to their meeting with their parents XD Oh, btw, Kaito can conceal his Soul Mark with long sleeve and make up but he can't cut it off? I thought the mark was kind of like... a shining hologram above your skin, hehe...

As for the alternate ending. I like it too~ But if I have to choose, I think... I prefer the continuation of the story where the Soul Mark didn't change. But it's really sweet that it changed into "I Love You" XD

For Chapter 4... finally they talked and could confirm each other's feeling...! Though... I'm sorry, if it sounds rude... but I think there were too much information in their introductory. I think they will know about those information as they spend much more time with each other, so... Though, maybe you have your own reason for that part

Is it just me or is it really satisfying to read a Shinichi atone for his first words to Kaito? Hmm.

Anyhow, I LOVEEEEE THIS CHAPTER SO MUUUCH. Aoko with a mop? Golden. Kaito not wearing anything to cover his soulmark around her? BEST GIFT. Aoko's protectiveness over Kaito because SHE KNOWS how much the damned soulmark affected him? I TOTALLY SUPPORT. BUT MY FAVORITE PART IS HAKUBA PRACTICALLY INTERROGATING SHINICHI. LIKE AAAAAA. I have no words except, fuck, I fell in love even greater with this fic because it's not just centered with Kaito and Shinichi but you also put effort on introducing every character around AND INTRODUCING THEM WITH SUCH IMPACT. I love it. I love how you write. I think I love you already for writing this fic.

knew that mop-fu's going to appear somewhere in the story and hit shinichi square and fair. lol. i personally think that by now aoko's got to be suspicious of kaito's role at KID heists. like, the thought is there but she wouldn't be doing anything until kaito told her himself. i love those two, romantic and platonic relationship notwithstanding. just, shinkai and kaishin's my definitely otp so.. xD

anyways, thanks for another great update! now i can't wait to have them meet the parents!

I. AM. SO. HAPPY TO READ THIS FIC.

It probably says a lot about my personality that I enjoy hurting my fave characters but tee-hee. Anyway, firstly, I'd like to thank you for sharing this with us! Truly thankful! These days, it's really hard to find new kaishin fics that are still being updated and I was so happy to find SoulBreak! The characterization are all so mapped out fantastically. Tbh, at first I thought it would've been a little out of character for shinichi to say thos first words to kaito but actually, it makes sense! I was thinking of post-conan!shinichi but pre-conan!shinichi would undoubtedly say those things. Anyway, I'd like to say that I FRIKKING CRIED, OKAY. MY HEART ACHES FOR KAITO. I LOVE SHINICHI, I DO, BUT DAMN. That's gotta hurt living with those words written permanently on your skin. Like, being told someone doesn't like u by a friend kinda hurts in real life and THAT ISN'T EVEN WRITTEN ON YOUR SKIN, WHERE YOU'LL SEE IT EVERY SINGLE DAY. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW KAITO FEELS.

So, I'm really glad that you didn't romanticize the soulmate connection and the consequences of such painful words to the bearer's life. Thank you that you still show that even though Kaito and Shinichi knew that it isn't true, it still affects them so much. That the wound will never heal. I do like this Shinichi bc he sincerely wants to make up for it (BUT IMAGINE THE SELF-LOATHING FOR THIS PAIR. KAITO ALWAYS DOUBTING HIS WORTH AND SHINICHI HATING HIMSELF BC IT WAS HIS FAULT KAITO IS DOUBTING HIMSELF AAAAAA sorry i like hurting them).

I gotta say, I like the chapter 5 alternate ending but I AM SOOOOO GLAD IT DIDN'T END LIKE THAT. I MEAN, IN THE DEEPEST PIT OF MY BLACKENED HEART, I KNOW THIS TWO DESERVED A HAPPY ENDING BUT BUT BUT, I'll say it again, it's so much better to see them go suffer through these issues together and trump over them. That's why, I'm so touched when I read chapter 6. God, I truly cried!

Especially at this part: "It's, really not a big deal," Kaito said after several moments of silence, still pointedly staring at the wall, refusing to risk meeting either of their gazes.

I cried. It was sooooo painful to read that. But I did say hurting them was one of my guilty pleasures so, I enjoyed that. Thank you and I look forward to your future updates! *whispers* can i ask for more pain? *evil laugh*
