Thoroughly enjoyable update. I am definitely a fan of this couple, but there are so few stories that do them justice. Too many of these stories have Elizabeth realizing her undeniable love for Darcy and running away from the Colonel, as if he somehow was wrong and terrible for having the audacity to love her. This story is so wonderful because I can already see their relationship developing as the story goes along. Please, write a Bennet brother story. Too many of these stories create a brother and get rid of Mary and Kitty, and I know you would write an excellent one with all of the sisters. With all of the sisters, the son would have to be a twin of Kitty or Lydia, or all of the sisters would not exist. If you had to change one Bennet daughter into a son, it would have to be Lydia. As the youngest, the other sisters would still exist, and as Kitty is my favorite Bennet, I would not want to see her excluded from the story, as so many other fanfics do to make it easier to focus on Elizabeth and Jane, which detracts rather than adds to the story. Thanks for writing such fantastic stories. I hope to read more soon.

I am enjoying your story, but please, for the sake of historical context and my sanity, please please please, remove that vile term "new norm" from chapter 12. It is hard enough to stomach in current conversations, but has no reason to pop up in JAFF. Thank you.

Hey, thanks for asking, I have read somewhere that and estate of 2K annually could comfortably support the Bennet family, but any addition to the family would streach the resources. By that logic it would make more sense to convert a sister into a brother. But then we are so used to having all 5 of them, that it would be cruel to take away one sister. My preference is to have a brother, elder to Jane, but please increase longbourne income to 2.5K. But then ofcourse it's ur story and it would depend what would work best for the plot u have in mind. Looking forward to it...

It would have been good to ADD to Col Fitzwilliam's tale the story of how Wickham went back to Darcy a few years after his father's death to ask for the living again (when the curate had died) and was denied and given money to study law. Just sayin' It adds to his calumny!

Either option for a Bennet brother is interesting. There's a short story at A Happy Assembly website (sign up required) called "The five sons Mrs Bennet never had" or something like this. It explores what it would have been like if one of the sisters would have been born a boy and it's a very, very good story, I highly recommend it.

Thank you for this wonderful chapter. I always thought the Colonel and Elizabeth made a better match. Elizabeth and Darcy are too similar, and eventually their tempers would cause them to argue quite a bit. On the other hand, the Colonel and Elizabeth are blessed with good humor, while the Colonel also has a more easygoing nature. I also like how Bingley and Jane acted around each other, as they are well-suited so long as Bingley maintains a backbone. As to your question about a Bennet brother, I think you should definitely write such a story, and create your own character. As one of my favorite authors, you would definitely do the story justice. If I were writing it, the brother would be Catherine's twin, because she would have someone to rely on and who would support her above all of her sisters. Also, he'd have to be born with or after Catherine, or all of the sisters would not be in the story, and I want to see how a brother adds to the story, without losing any of the sisters. If you had to change one sibling into a brother, let it be Lydia, because the other sisters would not have needed to be born had a son been born earlier. I'm glad things went so well with the Matlocks, but I have a feeling Richard's brother is planning something badly:such as trying to seduce Lizzie before the wedding...? Hmmm... but he will only arrive on the day, so there will be no time... will he try to take his estate? He is up to something, I know it! Jealous arse that he is... Maybe he can have an accident and Lizzie will become the next Viscountess!

And will Darcy be at the wedding? What is he thinking?! Is he mad he lost his opportunity with Lizzie? Give us a hint!

Will Bingley finally propose?! What is the indecisive gentleman waiting for now?

And yes, I would love an FF with a Bennet brother. There are lots of those around, so try to find a new angle that has not been done before. Maybe the brother has a disability and although the heir cannot run the estate... maybe he is married already to a major heiress and thus wealthy and powerful...?
