For the love of Machine God, don't add space marines. This is a Questor Mechanicus story, we don't need ultrasmurf terminators ruining the tension of the inevitable battle inside the plantations when APE tries to revolt

There aren't any human-sized klaxosaurs, except for that one queen chilling under a rock somewhere

There is however a giant-ass warpstorm around the system and you said that you want to move more into 40k territory, sooooo... CSM? Dark Mechanicum? They don't fizzle away around necron anti-warp tech, unlike demons and would bring Ave Ruburum-sized as well as Casten-sized threats

I'm also half expecting you to salvage the ending of DitF and make APE either Eldar or Necron pawns, and then somehow tie DAoT into it all.
