HeartOfAspen chapter 13 . 1/29 You’re baaaaaack! Yay! *jumps for joy* I’ve missed this story. I think your description of Hermione is in perfect keeping with Jane Eye AND canon - so you will hear no complaints from me here. We learned some interesting factoids about how LV fits into all this, and Draco also. I now suspect that instead of a wife, he’s keeping his mother in the attic, but you’ve surprised me before, so I will simply have to wait and see. Well done, as always. |
Vadimmom chapter 13 . 1/28 Despite Emma Watson’s beauty, I think JKR didn’t make Hermione beautiful. Your characterization causes me no concern. I love how you’re building up suspense like the real Jane Eyre. Again, well done! |
EStrunk chapter 13 . 1/27 I love the interaction between the Jane Eyre world and the Harry Potter world in this chapter. I find myself not knowing what to expect, even though I've read both, and I love that. No problems at all with the fact that Hermione would not consider herself beautiful. Her line about the problems being an attractive governess would cause was wonderful (and a bit of foreshadowing?). |
The-girl-who-loves-adventure chapter 13 . 1/27 I read this story all in one go cause it hooked me in. I was on the train when I read about Luna and oh my god was it hard to keep the tears in so I wouldnt look like a weirdo. I really like how you've built Hermione's character. shes strong but also has flaws. it makes her more human. also I agree with your characterization of Hermione. personally I find it off putting when writers make her really beautiful on top of being insanely smart. it like put downs the idea of just being average looking. cause beauty is such a weird standard. shes just Hermione and she doesnt have to be stunning to matter. I'm excited to read what's next! |
Megan chapter 12 . 11/19/2019 Love love LOVE this story so far. I'm excited to see where it goes from here! |
Vadimmom chapter 12 . 8/4/2019 Well done. |
HeartOfAspen chapter 12 . 8/4/2019 Ah yes, the perfect way of integrating Draco’s personal history with Rochester’s hidden miasma of a past. Nicely knitted together here. I like that you didn’t make Hermione naive about her feelings - very Janeite. Thank you for this installment, your chapters are always worth the wait. |
EStrunk chapter 12 . 8/2/2019 Loved the back story, esp. how you shifted the HP story to fit this one. Her inner turmoil is horrible, but also a bit hopeful. |
Guest chapter 11 . 7/9/2019 This is so good! |
Guest chapter 11 . 6/24/2019 This line "But I reject your claim that because you have a multitude of wealth, or because you have always been certain of your magic, that you live a more fulfilling life than I" was the juxtaposition of the line in the book where Jane says 'just because you are older than me and have traveled more than me does not make you smarter.' And I just wanted to say that I saw it and I appreciate it. I have written three separate essays on Jane Eyre and have since come to resent it quite a bit, but with this AU it has reminded me of how much I used to like it before I had to over analyze every detail Brontë wrote (and she wrote a lot of them). Really like this story and can't wait to read what comes next! |
HeartOfAspen chapter 11 . 5/2/2019 Oh gosh! This time we got the JE scene where Rochester questions her about goodness - except this took a definite turn toward HP, and... something else. I have no clue where you might be headed with this - speculations only, and vague ones at that - so I will just have to be patient! Thank you for the update, it’s always a pleasure. |
RuneMarauder189 chapter 10 . 4/11/2019 Such a good story so far! |
RuneMarauder189 chapter 7 . 4/11/2019 This was such a heartbreaking chapter! Poor Luna. Poor Hermione. |
dan dan dan chapter 10 . 4/10/2019 always a pleasure to get a chapter update! thanks for writing this wonderful story : |
EStrunk chapter 10 . 4/10/2019 Wonderful awkward dinner. I love that she will verbally spar with him. Her musing about having a protector was a bit sad. Looking forward to more interaction. Sorry to hear about the restaurant. That's a tough business. Do try to enjoy your rebalancing. |
