This was nicely paced, chapter to chapter. The plot was a good change of pace from the majority of the SVM/TB fics and the writing is solid. Sookie, Eric, & Godric worked as versions of the SVM/TB characters, but still managed to be more believable & more likable.

My only criticism, if you want to consider it a criticism, is wishing there had been some more time spent after they decided to go for it. The resolution is only a potential promise, like dried to seed dandelion flowers on a gusty day. There’s no real satisfaction and the promised sequel with the actual romance never appeared. It’s a shame. There are so few tolerable Sookies so I was hoping to spend more time with this story’s E, S, & G.

Whooaaa! A Gran who isn’t gutless! That’s practically unheard of! I like it.

Looks like E & S need a Godric mediation session. Hm. Maybe TB’s Godric should have taken up human/vampire & vampire/vampire counseling instead of sunshine on a rooftop. 8-]

I’m guessing Debbie disappeared to Russell’s place & she’ll end-up outing Sookie’s telepathy to him. Aaaaannd, if he gets close to Sookie pursuing that ability, he’s going to smell & possibly taste the fairy in her. On the minor-ish plus side, having to save Sookie from Russell would add even more incentive to Eric’s drive to take him down...

Blech! Alcide. Ugh. It could have been any old Were, even good looking, & I would have been cool with it. But Alcide turns my stomach even faster than Jason. He’s on par with Sam, Quinn, & Bill. All four are make my skin crawl, over-compensating, chauvinists. I know to many men in real life just like ‘em to have any tolerance for them showing up in my entertainment.

A smart-ass Sookie is so much better & a lot more fun than a bitchy Sookie. Hope she stays fun.

I’m feeling optimistic about this story. The Jason character is as worthless as my take on the canon version. This Eric is showing indications of likely having a better character than one would generally assume from someone who would kidnap a young woman because her selfish, loser brother gave her up to save himself. Eric could have tasted her or worse after indulging in scenting her. He also made an effort not to hurt her & he actually explained her situation rather than just bullying her. A ‘good guy’ wouldn’t have snatched her in the first place, but as a vampire, I’m thinking ‘good’ & ‘good guys‘ are relative descriptors.

But what I’m most optimistic about is that this Sookie seems like she might just be a bit brighter & less off-putting than the norm for the character. She hasn’t been displaying the usual whiny, shrieking, irrational behavior that is soooooooo common in stories that include her, so far anyway.

Loved the characterisations- especially of Eric. I felt like he had an arc but retained the vampire sensibility that is a huge part of his character. Really enjoyed reading their characters pull apart and come together.
