I don't often write reviews, because as a Black woman, fanfiction has been a very necessary escape from real life for me, and along with time constraints of a life filled with physical and mental toil and trauma, I shy away from contact with others, for protection and peace of mind/spirit. That being said, I do appreciate the hard work and talent of each and every writer that shares their work, and am much grateful for the brief respite it provides me.

Your writing in particular, has been especially satisfying; masterfully blending two very different universes without losing their essences, nuanced portrayals of characters that even those appointed by their originators failed to capture and bring to life (both in other literary works and on stage/screen), and relatable and moving storylines that evoke real emotions.

But what prompted me to write this review is your A/N: your self-awareness about your privilege, the sincerity with which you stated "Black Lives Matter", your acknowledgment of racism, xenophobia, and all other forms of hate -especially those perpetuated by Rowling and those we used to look to as our heroes- and that we must combat hate in all forms. Most importantly, I appreciate that you are standing up and saying that you are willing to do the work. I hope, that if you are able, that this willingness extends to RL. And this is for everyone- Right now, is the time to really step up and out, and support Black-Indigenous-and-People-of-Color and queer folx on the streets, in stores, in offices, at work, at school, at voting centers, at local/state/federal town halls/meetings. Support and uplift us, please. Do not be silent any longer. Please educate your fellow white folks, as best you can. Support Black/minority businesses, ensure that tax dollars/donations are making it to Black/minority schools the same way they are to white and other privileged education organizations, stop police brutality.

We are not voiceless. We have been spoken over, ignored, trampled on. No more.

I come to fan fiction to escape.

Today - I don’t like your stories. And you won’t care. That’s okay.

See, most of us come to read fan fiction to escape. The world is a terrible place. My life, it’s not the best, though there’s worse. But I never know if today is the day that I won’t wake up because I love with incurable awfulness that may or may not go away and let me be. That’s just life.

But this time - you went political. The news and every media platform is screaming with awfulness.

And now my escape is full of it too.

Not saying you’re wrong or right, but to someone like me, it’s like wanting and understanding the protesting but getting a riot full of people smashing stealing instead.

This is the most awful part of my day - because the one safer part of my world has the poison of reality bleeding into it.

I know you feel you have a point to make. I’m glad you made it. And you can tell me to go fuck off and read something else, because the internet lets you feel like you don’t have consequences.

But there are always consequences, even if you never know what they and you never see them. They’re there. The ripples of our words are always there.

So wait... Rowling's comment were harmful? How? Lets see... a Transgender is someone that has passed from one gender to another. To transform. For a Trangender to exist, Gender must exist. And Rowling said that, Genders exist. If people deny gender exist, then... do Transgender exist? Or are they just Trans? Really, it dissapoints me to see such a wonderful story be deviated for a supposed betrayal from Rowling. Transgender people exist and deserve respect. Denying Gender doesnt give them respect, it denies their very existance.

I just want you to know that I love you despite not knowing you. Your writing is a comfort that I don't always have access to, and the fact that you put your essence into it makes it even better, so thank you.
