I've really been enjoying this. I've been lurking on the site lately because I got a craving for Mass Effect stories, and yours is the first I've bothered to review.
So far, so great, but I have one little criticism that has nagged at me, because it stands out against very good story-telling: You keep spelling "Palaven" wrong. It's spelled with two 'a's, not two 'e's. I really ought to provide a more detailed review and include more praise, but it's two in the morning and I'm ashamed at how much fanfiction I've read since I got off of work today.
So I guess I'll summarize. Excellent story-telling. The characters are pretty spot-on. Perhaps do an extra sweep of your chapters for minor errors and repetitive words or phrasing (ie - using "but' twice in sentence.) I hope you aren't discouraged by the criticism. I know all too well how hard it is to put your writing out there. If I bother to criticize, it's because it is very good work and I want to help make it even better in my own, limited way. Even the best, published authors usually have an editor or a team of editors. All we can do is help each other out. ;)
