Thanks for this captivating story, I enjoyed it very much. I could see Shawn following Lassiter onto a trawler to catch smugglers, it makes sense for their characters. Your descriptions of the salty, agonizing wait in the raft were very well done. Lassiter conserving the water for Shawn seems like something he would do, just like in episodes where he secretly got Shawn back his motorcycle. You're a talented writer, good luck in your classes and thanks for sharing your work.

I LOVE this! Favorite line: "Lassiter had held the sobbing and writhing Shawn close to him" - gave me chills when I read that. I mean, you explain in gritty details what happened and how bad they're injured and totally screwed, but to describe how they move, speak, breathe - the details are divine. The growing desperation, and that heart-crushing faux-death scene with the sunset and stars? God! I work hard to write moments like that, you make it serene and elegant. I will be bookmarking and rereading this for sure.
