I feel your pain. I've rewritten (and am In the process of writing) some of my stories. I take one look at the first chapter and cringe- I can't believe I even published those chapters by god there were horrible. I'm glad I think like that though, it means I've improved.

I’ll be honest, I find the whole mute/silent approach cliche and overused; however, on a whole it doesn’t distract from the plot. I can understand why your initial thoughts about this piece were high, and why subsequent thoughts were much lower; it’s not the best story, but it’s not the worst either. I think that this is a reflection of your journey as an author; you are growing and becoming more adept. If you ever felt up to it, I’m sure you could use this experience to craft a marvelous story. Keep writing.

A bit purple, but poignant!

Honestly, I don't think this is as bad as you think it is. I appreciate reading a fic on this site that isn't crack, edge-lord OP self inserts, or angsty trash. Because this isn't angsty trash. Harry in this fic doesn't complain about everything, he's incredibly old and reacts to things in a way that someone very old would (at least I think so.)

More than that, what I really appreciated, that this you showed restraint when writing this, Harry didn't fix everything, he didn't even show up for most of it. It was short, sweet and, while a little dramatic, very good.

I don't know, I'm really bad at putting all my thoughts into words. I just wanted to let you know that as someone who hates angst, edge-lords and too much crack in fics, I enjoyed this a lot.
