What a telling look into the mind of Elrond half-elven. What is especially fine is that he realizes in Glorfindel a brotherly connection he had missed and longed for long since his twin Elros accepted the Gift of Men. More than friend or ally. Terrific job, well told.

Let me be the first to say that this is absolutely beautiful. I think you've captured it nicely, and I very much like the part where you speculate that maybe Elros asked the valar to send Glorfindel to help his brother. I think you deal with this subject well, without over or understating anything.

Only little bit that I thought might be interesting to add (although it does not need this at all) would be a mention of Celebrian. Just a thought.
