Lovely! You did an amazing job contrasting the earlier portraits with the later ones. The banter between friends really made me smile (the gait of a baby turtleduck lol), and the oppressive feelings and the way Zuko nitpicks the earlier portraits is great, as well as the detail about Azula's portrait watching him. Lots of lovely little details in each scene that feel so in-character I can almost see them. One thing though, watch out to make sure your use of present tense is consistent.

This was freaking beautiful. I decided I loved it the moment you started describing the portrait taking for the “Old Friends” poster, and the ones after that were just perfect (the ones before, of course, providing relevant contrast). Really good job on a unique little one shot.

This is beautiful! I think that you could still make the atmosphere tenser and Zuko more uncertain with the family portrait they had to take with Zuko's scar. You could also make the absence of his mother more prominent or perhaps make her presence bigger in the very first part of your story just to make more of an impact. But honestly, this story is already great as it is.
