No rest for the wicked, eh?
CMB598 chapter 50 . 6/30
Ok, so the timeline is somewhere during the end of Cata and the beginning of Pandaria. Neat expansion with hilarious/cringe references in it. No idea who Chen Stormstout is referencing but we do have a furious five(four?) Kung Fu Panda reference. Wonder how they will deal with an entire continent with peaceful Panda Beastmen and wild Hosen. Doubt the company has ever been to Cathay (realm of the dragon emperor) or Ind (land of 1,000 (maybe more or less) gods).

Hey Warhammer! Reading about Erich as a character is always really interesting to me as objectively he can be a rough and difficult to like person, but you write him in such a way that he’s still engaging and someone that the reader is invested in, which is tricky to do. His perspective on the world is very well articulated - you don’t shy away from exposing his prejudices and biases, and I think this adds a lot of dimension to his character. He’s also very much a product of the world from which he comes from, and I really enjoyed how heavily he leans on his past experiences to form a frame of reference for his current situation. One of the most difficult things about writing crossovers is including elements from both universes in a way that feels authentic to both. I’m obviously not as knowledgeable about Warhammer as I am about Warcraft, but from what little I do know I think you’ve done a great job of keeping the spirit of that universe throughout your piece even while in a Warcraft setting, and I think using Erich’s reflections and comparisons is a clever way to achieve this.

One of the particular crossover aspects I also enjoyed in this piece was the inclusion of Erich's military thinking. As much as it’s called ‘War’craft, a lot of the Warcraft universe doesn’t really make a lot of sense from a military perspective and isn’t as thoroughly thought out as the Warhammer universe. What you’ve described here adds a sense of realism to the Warcraft world that it’s often lacking, and I liked seeing that aspect of the story come into play. Overall, it was a very enjoyable read - realistic, gritty, and a great introduction to some of the aspects of the Warhammer universe for me. Thank you very much for recommending it to my challenge!
