I didn't even realize you were avoiding S4. It's not so awful-Sam is hurt because he's disappointed Dean and is determined to kill Lilith in revenge for his brother, and Dean is worried for Sam and struggling for normalcy. Yet again, even their angst is rooted in their love for each other. Hence all the anger disappearing as soon as Sam drowns.

Sam sure took a beating while he was trying to stop that seal from being broken. I'm glad that Dean was there to watch his back, although he did have to face Baba Yaga alone once Sam was thrown into the water. Dean actually lost Sam and had to revive him, and I loved Dean stating he would kick Sam's ass if he were teased about needing to give Sam mouth-to-mouth. lol I think both boys would like to give the angels a piece of their mind, for sending them on such a mission without knowing what they were facing. They are both lucky to be alive, especially since Sam DID die!

Great story! I too have a hard time with the moments when the brothers are not copacetic, like season four. You've managed to write a story that maintains that discord while still feeding the comfort and caring side of the relationship. Well done. Congratulations on the new job!

Oh this was delightful. I was happy that we had hurt Sam so close to the beginning, forcing Dean to pull out his big brother skills and take care of him. But then...then you had Sammy almost drown at the end...bonus hurt Sam! And the brotherly hug with Sam's head resting on Dean's shoulder. So wonderful. So yes, even when the brothers are at odds, you managed to get schmoopy. Good job!
