that was a nice ending...with the phoenix song/return of Fawkes...i don't think i've seen his return used to close out a story before but i really liked it...especially since he wasn't mentioned in the story and i wasn't expecting him at all.

"... it sends an eighteen-month child ..." Well, when Harry was eighteen months old he was at the Dursleys. For three months already. Is it so difficult to count from July 31 to October 31 and get three months? Adding the full year (twelve months, by the way, just in case you have a different calendar from the rest of the world, as even those who DO have a different calendar still know the common solar calendar for international standardisation purposes) you get fifteen, not eighteen.

The story, however, was nice. Non-magical ways are used far too rarely, considering that the two main characters opposing Riddle and the pureblood mania have been raised without magic, and the one who would definitely protest (because he's just a pureblood like everyone else, shunning squib relatives, for example) left them alone to get thirty-seven huge meals per day, after eating in three months what should've lasted three people a whole year. By then they must've been so addled by the love/loyalty potions in canon that they were incapable of thinking things through.

And yes, every memory of Dumbledore needs to be destroyed, at least those that are able to talk others into fulfilling The Greater Good of a senile old idiot. His tomb, for example, doesn't talk, even if, as the worst headmaster in Hogwarts' history, he definitely doesn't deserve to spoil the grounds with his rotting cadaver.

Nice - I've seen stories that end the series in year one, but it is more satisfying when the main characters are adults. And to the reviewer (who probably won't see this) who asked why Dumbledore didn't do anything in book 6 - well, the contract was for seven books, wasn't it? It would have been a more interesting last 2 books if Dumbledore died in the first few chapters of book 6 and the chaos started then, lol.

I love it! Cut through the nonsense and take care of the problem. I never understood why Dumbledore wasted Harry's entire sixth year with games and puzzles. He had plenty of time to find and destroy the Horcruxes, had he truly wished to do so, and he had Cursebreaker Bill Weasley right in the Order to help him. I'll bet Bill and the Goblins could have completed the job in a few weeks, not to mention dealing with Harry's Horcrux, as well.

Dumbledore was a game player, and he gambled with people's lives. I'm glad they destroyed the portrait. It would have continued to cause trouble - and contaminate society - if allowed to exist. Good riddance to bad rubbish!
