Dianne chapter 1 . 2/11/2018 This story was intriguing, I've never seen this challenge before. The applications of this plot to Emergency, being a rescue show was a logical choice. Very sad and Gage's determination to rob Death of his embrace after he took a child was heartfelt. Thank you for your work. |
uniquelyjas chapter 1 . 1/5/2018 Wow...very powerful and well-written...sounds poetic. Great job! |
SunshineGirl99 chapter 1 . 12/29/2017 This was a beautiful story. The words painted a vivid picture in my head. The idea was very unique, and I liked it very much. Great job! |
Guest chapter 1 . 12/29/2017 I liked this but I think it might've worked better if it was from someone like Roy. Roy had kids and would've felt an even bigger impact with the little girl's death. There's tons of cliched trope stories in this fandom where Johnny is horribly affected by a child's death, so this was actually not new ground. But it was still a good story and I did like it. |
Beaglewhisperer27 chapter 1 . 12/28/2017 I second all the positive reviews left by other posters. You did a good job painting a vivid picture with few words. Some people don't want to read these types of stories around the holiday's and I can understand that. The story is named Death and appropriately put in the Angst category so it's easy to avoid. |
Var Devonshire chapter 1 . 12/23/2017 Wow. So intense. Clever use of the "Free hugs" sign by Death. It's good to see someone paint Death with a semblance of kindness. Very well done! |
Ross7 chapter 1 . 12/23/2017 Kudos! Good bit of descriptive writing! I agree with the others-hope you will contribute more EMERGENCY! stories. We E! fanatics need our fixes. :D :) Ross7 |
katbybee chapter 1 . 12/23/2017 Very powerful and well-written story. I lost one of my closest friends of 40 years last December...just days before Christmas. This Christmas is bittersweet because I miss him. And your story is a poignant reminder of how precious and fragile life really is...and how it's okay to grieve when others are celebrating. And so it is a very fitting story...because death is not polite and convenient...holidays mean nothing...nor does age...and yet...there is hope. You showed that as well. Speaking to "GuestEver notice the negative reviews are almost exclusively from 'guests'?) The story is clearly marked "Angst." Why in the world would you dress someone down for writing a sad story when they told you what it was from the start? Just sayin'. Thank you for sharing this story. I hope you stick with writing...Hugs! |
guest fan chapter 1 . 12/23/2017 I disagree with those who said it was not appropriate for Christmas...it was wonderfully written and you handled it beautifully. One of the best pieces on here. Many people deal with loss and it does not stop just because of a particular date on a calendar. WELL DONE! |
Cubit2 chapter 1 . 12/22/2017 My first reaction when I read that prompt was “That is really weird. How do you do that?” Well, you handled it superbly showing us John Gage’s grief and dedication in a short, bittersweet piece. Very nicely done. |
autumnrose2010 chapter 1 . 12/22/2017 Not sure I like it, would rather it had been a 95 year old man or something like that... |
Guest chapter 1 . 12/22/2017 So sorry your beautiful story got bashed for not being a happy fluffy story. Sorrow knows no limits, not even on the holidays. So what if this story isn't a happy one. I'm glad you posted this, it's got a lot of gut-punch packed in just a few short words. Not many writers can convey that kind of emotion and you did a great job with this, IMO. I hope you write again for this fandom, I like your style. |
Guest chapter 1 . 12/22/2017 christmas is suppose be happy time not about kids dying wrong time to post |
DaisyK2tog chapter 1 . 12/22/2017 Wow. Just wow. This is beautiful. |
