I agree that Marcels a piece of ... but I think he had two definite options: live with Rebekah for like 50 years and then die, or become a vampire, wait 80 years and then spend the rest of eternity with Rebekah. Personally if I was given a choice like that then I would choose exactly as Marcel did. Just saying.
