Reviews for A Little Understanding
tullyfan chapter 3 . 12/7/2017
for such a huge jam they were in, the guys seemed to have a hilarious time escaping. Dietrich had seemingly planned for every possible problem. The guys were chuckling all the way to the gate. I loved the reappearance of Tully's slingshot as a key weapon in aiding their escape and Tully's matchsticks really helped their success of their escape but best of all was Hitch throwing the keys into the empty cell and then locking the cell! door - hilarious. Of all their many successful escapes - this was by far their best and probably the one most associated with the coming of the legend associated with the legend of the Rat Patrol. Such a complex scheme, with so little to work with - few obvious weapons, a worthy opponent who hardly deserved (and yet was an enemy) time involved, 2 injured rats (there are Tully and Hitch suffering so successfully in unison again). Thank heavens for jammed guns. this is just an awesome story in every way and I was in suspense for all 3 chapters. How are you going to write something better than this? But I am completely confident that you will do so
tullyfan chapter 2 . 12/6/2017
Yes, I have read chapter 2 and plan to now write a review though it's late here in CST so now we know what happened to the guys, and their damaged jeeps. I bet the Germans didn't know that the 2 privates especially had very strong feelings about their jeeps and that the jeeps even had names. Otherwise this was not a good day for our guys except that the privates got a little medical attention and were pronounced OK but just exhausted to which Troy and Moffitt agreed. OK, so I'm assuming our guys will recover quickly and escape by riding or walking off into the sunset as Capt Dietrich will watch them and have a frustrated look on his face . The scene of Troy and Dietrich having their sarcastic "discussion " about the whole incident near the beginning of the story was especially well written.
tullyfan chapter 1 . 12/6/2017
cliff hanger#1 . everyone is suffering - especially my trusty privates. This is certainly a Dietrich vs troy contest. At first, I thought Troy was leading his men to trick Dietrich into thinking the guys were giving up by dumping their guns and weapons to the side. I have alot of questions: how did the guys get in this situation? What is Troy doing? What is his "plan"? But I am going to wait until tomorrow to find out answers to my may questions. I know this is an abnormally short for me but I will make up for it tomorrow. I like how the rats are following their leader no matter what. But why did Troy whack Hitch's ankle? what a meanie.

I always enjoy fics with Dietrich in them. Enjoyed the conversation between Dietrich and Troy...well done
churchlady63 chapter 3 . 12/4/2017
Talk about taking the initiative! What else would a curious rat do with a room full of fuel but blow it up! I wonder what Captain Boggs will say when Troy turns in that report. How convenient that Dietrich left them with a truck load of food too! Some days just don't get any better!
churchlady63 chapter 1 . 12/4/2017
Good start. Troy was clever taking Tully's sling shot apart and spreading the pieces among the men. I'm sure he's got a plan to escape using it once they all get to rest a bit in German custody.
snowleopard13 chapter 3 . 12/4/2017
Oh a good one where it looks like Dietrich has the upper hand again. However, we know are Rats prevail in the end. I liked the interaction between Dietrich and Troy in this story. I don't think Dietrich should bring the Rats home for dinner as they always leave a nasty mess behind before they rudely leave without even asking to borrow the truck.

Smiles, keep up with letting Dietrich win for at least a little while. Great Story
Brosmom chapter 3 . 12/3/2017
It would have had to have been a two or three parter, but this should have been an episode. Loved it.
