Interesting, their uncle the lawyer wasn't handling their dowrys. Had he no advice? Wasn't the lawyer responsible for it's loss? They had so little before the loss since it wouldn't come til their mother's death, what's the difference? Just some questions. Thank you.

I like the idea that Mr. Bennet saved enough for dowries, and it's through no fault of his that they're now gone. That makes him and Mrs. Bennet both more sympathetic.

Mrs. Bennett is smarter,less flighty in your story then she is in canon. She also appears more ruthless.

The Bennet's were not rich, but now, they have nothing. It's terrible.
I hope that Mary will marry Mr Collins, and not Lizzy. What will the Darcy's behavior be toward these very poor girls ? and the one of Bingley ?

oh dear, why would Mrs Bennet think Lizzy would benefit from a marriage to Collins? Surely Mary as the religious person would be a better fit.
