Jalarious27 chapter 58 . 7/21
I’ve been waiting for the time that Rogue Zero would make their reappearance, and it has finally happened! It looks like while the Interacians and everyone else are fighting, Rogue Zero is going to be doing something either behind the scenes or joining in on the action at some point. It makes me curious to see what they end up doing. Will Maximus intend to get revenge on Luke for defeating him and causing him to be suspended, or will he be more angry with Riaan and Hades Pillar, thus deciding to either form a temporary truce with the others or going after them himself? I can only assume that Xander will go along with whatever Maximus decides, though I’m unsure about the others. I can see Killian perhaps going his separate way and doing his own thing, perhaps seek out Galilea. The others, I’m not sure about.

Well, it seems like things aren’t looking too good back on Earth, and I doubt the other planets infected by Riaan’s influence aren’t faring much better. Luke and the others are staying with his family, which makes the most sense at the moment. It’s better they all stay in a group until they make their next move, and it definitely doesn’t seem safe to be hanging around outside for the time being. I’m glad that everyone apparently seems to be doing alright, From the sound of it, they all returned home to Earth to rest, while Fabia and the others bolstered their remaining troops to prepare for the invasion on Interacia. Things are definitely winding down to the endgame, and it is going to be crazy once it finally gets there. Though, at least we know that these difficult times aren’t enough to bring Maggie’s mood down to the point where she’ll stop teasing Esther and the others. She definitely brings some light into these horrible situations.
Well, that was some speech that Riaan gave. Although, that just reinforces what has to happen, and it is going to happen very soon. If they want any chance of saving their worlds, they have to get down to business and quick. It then became official when the representatives and leaders from each world had the meeting and discussed what their plan of action would be. Surprisingly, Shawn finally gave up and accepted the fact that he would always be the one that has to explain things, only for Jase to poke fun at him for it. It’s also good to know that the Brawlers are doing better after what happened on Neathia, and they even apologized for how they were acting. I understand their reasoning, and it makes sense that they were worried for them, but they should’ve taken their advice sooner rather than later. Still, it looks like they at least understand the position that they are in, and that they don’t really have the luxury nor the time to try and find some sort of peaceful solution to the problem.

After some of the heavy stuff was out of the way, each member of the group had their own little way of spending their time. Luke and Abis had a chat about everything they’ve had to deal with up until now. Shawn cleaned his apartment and talked to Verias about him and Luke’s friendship, Esther visited her parents for closure of sorts. Maggie talked with her mother (which made me cry, by the way. I can only imagine how tough it is for Rebecca after watching Maggie fight and seeing what she has to go through). Shuji talked to his family, and I’m happy that his mom and brother support him. I’m sure Nene does, too, but she just doesn’t want to admit it. As for Jase, he got a letter from his former superior. I am curious behind why he asked Atmos that question about a Bakugan’s lifespan. Perhaps it will be answered later on, and perhaps not.

Oooo. I was wondering if the group would ever get some weapon upgrades, and they did. Esther has a cool new spear, Shawn gets a brand new rapier, Jase has his new, as I like to call it, “taser stick” which will be shown off in the next chapter or so, and Luke gets his brand new sword, which is a combination of his old sword and Luka’s. It would’ve been interesting had Luke attempted to learn how to dual-wield the swords, but I think this probably makes more sense. Not only does he usually need one of his hands free for when he is brawling, but I also think that it would probably be a bit weird to wield both a regular sword and a laser sword at the same time. I’m sure that the weights are different, and they both probably had a distinct feel to them that would’ve made it weird to wield both at the same time. So, I think it is a really cool idea to just combine the two. He has his normal sword, but when he needs a stronger sword, then all he’s got to do is flip a switch. It will definitely be very helpful in the upcoming invasion of Interacia.

And they are off. Overall, this was a really good chapter with lots of emotion, and there were some nice little scenes with each individual character. It’s also going to be the last “calm before the storm” that Luke and the others are going to have for the rest of the story, so it is important that they get everything that they needed to get done finished now, because they may not have another chance to do so later. Anyways, I really enjoyed this chapter, and I will hopefully get the next couple of reviews done soon, now that I am starting to catch up a bit more.
Jalarious27 chapter 57 . 7/21
And it begins! I enjoyed seeing everyone’s reaction to Luke and the others showing up. Compared to the last time many of them saw the group, they have definitely grown quite a bit. That being said, I’m sure that seeing them appear after seeing what happened to the battle brawlers certainly isn’t a very comforting sight. They may have grown stronger, but after witnessing Riaan’s strength and not knowing how strong Luke and the others really are, I’d be worried for them, as well. Rebecca especially, I can only imagine how frightening it would be to find your 10-year-old child facing such a terrifying monster. The emotion that this first scene displayed was pretty intense, and it definitely summed up how a lot of people are feeling across the different worlds as they are watching this happen.

Right off the bat, they are displaying much better teamwork than the Brawlers did throughout most of their fight against Riaan. They know what is at stake, and that the only way to win is to support each other, find and create openings, and take advantage of the openings the others create for each other. Meanwhile, as the Bakugan are dealing with Armageddoid, Shawn, Luke, Jase, and Esther are going in and attempting to strike at Riaan. Though not immediately successful, they are showing a vast difference in effort in comparison to what the brawlers did.

Verias batting Fly Beetle’s ability at Armageddoid and Atmos picking up and dropping Abis on Armageddoid are good examples of their teamwork and how far they have come. It shows quick and creative thinking on their parts, as well as takes advantage of each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Although, a move that I found very impressive is what Maggie did. Three of them bombarded Armageddoid with powerful abilities, all of which he absorbed. However, with Soft Conductor, all of that power that Armageddoid was about to absorb was instead absorbed by Jelldon, giving him a massive increase in power and giving the others an opening to attack. She knew that Riaan would try to absorb their abilities, and so she had a plan to counter that. That was very impressive, and it goes to show that she may be the youngest in the group, but she is no slouch when it comes to brawling. Riaan may have blocked their counter-attack, but it was still an impressive move on all of their parts.

Luckily, it seems as though Riaan still isn’t fully recovered from his previous battle with Luke and Luka, which gives them a slight advantage, though he is still giving them quite a lot of trouble. Although, with the six of them, they are doing well to keep on a somewhat equal footing with Armageddoid for a while.

They just keep coming up with surprises. Not only is Jase able to distract Riaan by himself for a bit to buy Shawn some time, but he was also able to nullify Riaan’s Necromancer ability. Arguably, that ability is the most problematic of Riaan’s. He has one that can pretty much block any combination of attacks, as well as one that is capable of wiping out several opponents all at once, but an ability that can just straight up take control of your opponent’s Bakugan just seems like an incredibly powerful ability. So, to be able to negate it like that is pretty impressive, in my opinion. Unfortunately, Riaan comes back with a combination ability and takes a quick first win against them. However, they are far from down for the count just yet. They still have some fight left in them. Although, I definitely wasn’t expecting Shuji to punch Riaan in the face. Though only a narrow hit, that took guts for Shuji to try and hit Riaan like that, knowing he isn’t the most experienced fighter among them.

That move with Jelldon and Verias was pretty good. It gave Verias enough momentum to pick up a lot of speed and power, and Jelldon distracted Armageddoid long enough for Verias to get it’s hit in. Clever thinking, with that pair. Although, what Shuji and Fly Beetle did right after was also very impressive. It is clear that you were inspired by My Hero Academia with these moves, and you definitely do a good job of making Bakugan’s somewhat lackluster battles into something incredibly epic. The name Carapace Riot is also very suiting, considering Fly Beetle just went Red Riot on Armageddoid. Not only was his defense greatly increased, but he was also able to push Armageddoid back quite a bit and give Shawn and Verias and opening to attack.

Despite their best efforts, Armageddoid had a bit of a comeback for a while. Although, it also appears as though he started to reach his own limit, since that attack from before is coming back to haunt him. And to top all of that…Verias just went beyond plus ultra with that attack! With that one attack, in combination with Abis and Jelldon to help toss him, he managed to bring Riaan down to 30%. I don’t think that anyone can doubt them again after what they just witnessed. With that one attack, they were able to do something that not even the Battle Brawlers could do.

Despite making a comeback, Riaan and Armageddoid still had a lot left to give, and so it wasn’t too much of a surprise when he used Prismatic Pulsar and took out everyone except for Luke. Honestly, I find it very fitting to have Luke be the one to defeat Riaan. Not only was he once his student, but everything else that has happened since his true identity was revealed, and with what happened to Luke, it just makes sense that Luke is the one to take him down. And even better…he managed to get a hit on Riaan! It may not be his true body, but still, Luke managed to cut off one of Riaans arms, which will hopefully put him as some sort of disadvantage in the future, which I wouldn’t get my hopes up for, considering who Riaan is.
And when backed into a corner, Luke and Abis manage to do what most would consider impossible! After a little talk with Luka and Brontes, they managed to come back, and not just that. They managed to evolve yet another time, into Daedalus Abis Omega. To say that it was epic is an understatement. He got an evolution at just the right time, and it gave him enough power to get them their very first win against Riaan. Not only did he get a lot more powerful, but his appearance changed to match that power. I definitely wouldn’t want to run into Daedulus Abis Omega, that is for sure.

Though they may not have defeated Riaan once and for all, they managed to buy a little time before they have to go and take Riaan on at his home turf, Interacia. After this intense battle, they definitely need a little time to reconvene, access everything, and recover, because that was very, very hectic, and they need to be as rested as possible before they go to Interacia.

Overall, I’d say that this was the most intense chapter so far, and I can only imagine it will become even more intense when the final battle happens. Not only did Luke managed to defeat Riaan this time around and inflict a pretty nasty wound on him, but he also managed to show several worlds that he and his friends are just as capable, probably more capable actually, of taking on Riaan and saving everyone.
Jalarious27 chapter 56 . 7/21
Things start out with Luke and the group hurrying to catch up to the brawlers. I found this part to be interesting, mainly because we get to see Esther and Shuji doing a bit more fighting than they used to. With Esther’s new skills with a spear and Shuji starting to get a bit bolder, now almost the entire group can take care of themselves when it comes to a fight. There is still Maggie, and Shuji is just fighting with his fists instead of a weapon, but that will still be useful in the long run, now that they have two more fighters among them. I also start to see the benefits to Julie being around, because it was because of her that they were able to track the brawlers and make it to their location.

That was definitely interesting. I wonder if Julie actually believed that Riaan would give her what she wanted. Although, in this case, I believe he did much more than just what she wanted. I had a feeling he would at least tell them something about his plans, but I wasn’t expecting him to allow them to broadcast it to every single planet that he has infected. Part of it was to allow them to know what is going on before their planets end up being destroyed, but I also wonder how much of it was to demoralize the enemy. After all, what he is about to end up doing would surely demoralize a lot of people, after watching who they believed to be their only hope be defeated right before their eyes. Considering how Riaan sees things, I’m not entirely sure how much of his actions here are ulterior motives or not. Either way, the brawlers are in for one hell of a ride, especially since they think that they can still do things their way. Unfortunately for them, Riaan isn’t going to give them that luxury. Though, they’ll definitely learn just how ignorant they have been this whole time.

Right off the bat, it is clear how outmatched the brawlers are in this situations. They all strike at once, and then Armageddoid simply absorbs their power and converts it into it’s own. They attack again, Armageddoid powers up even more and overpowers them. Simply “hitting them harder” as Dan put it, isn’t going to work in this situation. It’ll take strategy, teamwork, and power to bring Armageddoid down. Riaan was definitely right when he said that the brawlers have become too straightforward with their method of fighting. They just keep attacking him over and over again, hoping to overpower him. All that is going to do is strengthen him while weakening yourself. It doesn’t even seem like they are really trying, in comparison. So, when Riaan pulled out his Necromancer ability, I wasn’t too surprised when they couldn’t really do much in return. At this point, I think that they just don’t want to believe that they are outmatched, even though it is rather clear. Everything he has told them so far has been true. They are so “Determined” to stop him and save the different planets, yet Riaan is hardly even having to try and he is wiping the floor with them so easily. Together, they have the power to defeat Riaan, but if they don’t strategize, then they stand a ghost of a chance against him.

I’ll admit, they started putting up a decent fight towards the second half of the battle. They finally started working together a bit more instead of just attacking blindly over and over again. Add in their Bakugan Fusions, and they are at least able to put up more of a fight against Armageddoid. Although, even that wasn’t enough in the end to defeat them. Eternity Screen makes it rather difficult for any of their powerful attacks to do much of anything, and in addition to that, Jurat Black Star is one crazy ability. That one move was enough to take down all of them at once. After this, the brawlers will hopefully learn a few things, especially after witnessing Dan get stabbed in the arm. He’s very lucky that Riaan wasn’t aiming to kill him. After this, I’m hoping that they realize just how dangerous Riaan is, and how it’s virtually impossible to end this situation peacefully.

Now the real battle is about the unfold. Perhaps not as many people have faith in Luke and the others as they did in the Brawlers, but out of everyone there, they know the most about Riaan and this crisis. They realistically have the best chance at defeating him, even if they don’t necessarily have the same amount of power or experience as the battle brawlers.

Jalarious27 chapter 55 . 7/8
Last chapter was a bit of the calm before the storm, but now, the real fight begins. Although, despite how confident the brawlers appear to be right off the start, it definitely didn’t make me feel anymore at ease. Considering everything that has happened so far, putting faith in the brawlers isn’t exactly all that easy. Although I’ll give them this: they are determined. They’ve never been up against an enemy like this before, and despite the fact that they still don’t fully understand the situation like Luke and the others, they are still doing what they can to save Neathia.

Honestly, I suppose I can understand where the Brawlers are coming from. It isn’t wrong to say that they have more experience than Luke and the others, at least when it comes to battling. They definitely don’t have a firm grasp on the current situation, though. Either way, the way they see it, they have more experience, so they have the best shot. They are the brawlers, after all. If anyone can do it, they can. And after what happened with Luka, they want to prevent one of the others from sharing the same fate. However, they need to realize that there is always someone stronger than them. And victory depends on whether or not they can adapt to handle the situation. So far, they have not shown that they have the ability to adapt to this current situation. They still think that things can be resolved peacefully. While ideal, that won’t work with Riaan. What bothers me with this encounter, is that they don’t even want Luke and the others to be there to help. They expect them to just stay back and let them handle everything. Even the brawlers need assistance, and there is no way that Luke and the others are just gonna sit there and let others deal with this problem when they are already this far in.

The brawler’s reaction to being attacked by Zion was brilliant. They keep saying that they will defeat Riaan while resolving things peacefully, yet here is their enemy, more than willing to strike them down without hesitation. Now, I think, is the first time that they actually have a glimpse at the reality of the situation at hand. Luke and the others have said it before, but apparently it took witnessing it for themselves first-hand to realize just what is at stake.

While the brawlers went off to go find and face Riaan, Luke and the others face all of Hades Pillar together. To say that it was an epic and intense battle is an understatement. On their own, each of Hades Pillar is an incredible force to be reckoned with. However, all six at once, now that is just pure insanity. Granted, Luke and the others are no slouches, but it definitely isn’t something that they can just deal with and be done with it. Starting off, things weren’t looking too bad. They were working pretty well together, managing to fend off Hades Pillar’s assaults. However, the combination of forbidden abilities and Hate Gate caused their power levels to skyrocket immensely. Ultimately, those forbidden abilities and all the other little tricks they have up their sleeves are what give them the upper hand. However, somewhat surprisingly, Luke and the others were able to work together and get a quick first win against them. Although, it isn’t that easy to take down Hades Pillar. What surprised me even more, was when Hades Pillar was starting to push back, they performed two Triple Nodes to turn things back into their favor. Honestly, I forgot that triple nodes were a thing in Bakugan, so I definitely wasn’t expecting for Luke and the others to pull off two of them at the same time. Although, I knew that Hades Pillar would start making a comeback, so it wasn’t surprising to me when they starting giving Luke and the others some more trouble.

What I wasn’t expecting during this whole intense showdown, was for Keegan to make another appearance. I was wondering when he would make another appearance, and he didn’t disappoint when he did. I should’ve figured that Spectra would come up with something to help take down Hades Pillar and Riaan, but I wasn’t expecting for Elico to become a mechanical Bakugan, and boy did it give it some new tricks and power. Thanks to them, Luke and the others were able to finally defeat Hades Pillar. I’m also glad to see some of the changes in Keegan’s battling style. He used take way too many risks when it came to his attribute changing, but now he can have Elico change at will like Jelldon, which is definitely gonna be very useful.

Though not as important as the battle that just took place, man, was Amina’s breakdown crazy. I knew that she cared more about her appearance than most things but…man, was that crazy. I wasn’t expecting her to freak out that badly.

While all of this was going on, the brawlers were sneaking around Empyrean, trying to find Riaan. They got rather lucky along the way. Had they actually been caught by those soldiers, there wasn’t much of anything that they would’ve been able to do. After all, they don’t have weapons on them, and they’ve already made it clear that they intend to solve things peacefully. Though, they were able to make it to Riaan, where there most difficult battle yet waits for them.

This was an intense, battle-filled chapter, and I enjoyed it a lot. Though, I know that the next few chapters are going to make this battle look like a walk in the park in comparison.
Jalarious27 chapter 54 . 7/8
I apologize again for taking so long. Honestly, I’ve had no real excuse, I’ve just been really lazy lately. I’m just about caught up with the chapters, but I’m gonna start sitting down and writing some reviews, finally.

Things start out on Vestal, where we get to see Spectra and Gus again after not seeing them for so long. They managed to get signals from other worlds, which resulted in them seeing Dan and the brawlers’ return. Although, Spectra seemed to have taken more of an interest in the new brawlers that he had the chance to meet earlier. At the time, they definitely had a ways to go still, but they’ve definitely improved quite a magnitude since the last time they met.

Despite not agreeing with how they do things, once again, I can’t seem but to understand where Riaan is coming from. Luka was their enemy, but they did acknowledge him and show respect for what he fought for. They acknowledged his desire to live his life, but that doesn’t mean that they were just going to back down from their own objectives. Both sides were fighting a hard as they could in order to make their respective goals come true, thus occurring in a rather thrilling battle.

What happened next was definitely a bit tough to swallow. I definitely understand why they’d be feeling down. After all, they just lost one of their comrades. Anyone would be upset in this situation. Maggie especially I can understand, because she was told what would happen, at least somewhat, before it happened. To that extent, I understand why she’d blame herself a little for the result. That being said, I ultimately agree with Jase. It’s not fun, but it is reality. They are there for a reason, and they knew that there was always the possibility that not all of them would make it out alive…that is the reality of war, unfortunately. Being a former soldier, I’m sure Jase understands that better than a lot of others.

I wasn’t surprised that Luke took Luka’s death the hardest. After all, he literally watched it happen, and there wasn’t a whole lot that he could do about it. Though, Jase’s point still stands. He deserves some time to grieve, but ultimately, they’ve got a lot they still need to do. Of all things, I wasn’t expecting Gus to show up and give Luke a bit of a…pep talk, I suppose. Though unexpected, I definitely think that is what Luke needed in that moment. I’m just glad that it didn’t take too long for Luke to get back into the swing of things. Luka is gone now, and he has to pick up where he left off.

Honestly, at first, I was thinking that there would be some actual progress made with this little meeting with the brawlers. After all, it started out pretty well. They were sharing information, they were getting along fairly well, and it seemed as though they were actually trying to come up with some sort of plan together. However, once again, things get out of hand when the brawlers believe that Luke and the others can’t be trusted to take on Riaan. I understand that their way of doing things is the opposite of the brawlers and that so far, they haven’t been successful in defeating Riaan. However, if they think that just because they are the battle brawlers that they can overcome this threat peacefully, then they are wrong. Their inability to adapt and do things differently is exactly why Luke and the others are much better suited to take on Riaan. Dan and the others may be powerful and experienced, but the others have their own experience and their own strength.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure what to expect for Zion’s backstory, but that was definitely interesting. He used to just attack and kill people for no real reason, until he met Riaan. Not only did Riaan teach Zion how to properly wield a blade, reminding me somewhat of the scene in Avatar the Last Airbender where Iroh taught someone who was mugging him how to properly wield a knife, but he also gave him a reason to wield his weapon. Now it makes sense why he is such a ruthless fighter, as well as why exactly he follows Riaan.
It is sad that they have to hide the fact they came up with a plan from the brawlers, instead having Fabia tell them it was her idea. Unfortunately, if they told the brawlers of their idea themselves, there is no way that they would’ve been on board with it. The way I see it, the battle brawlers are being foolish. They need all the help they can get, especially since they can’t seem to handle the idea of fighting brawlers instead of just Bakugan. They aren’t willing to do what it takes to win this war.

Overall, I really enjoyed this chapter. Things have been rather hectic, but compared to what happens from here on, it only gets more and more intense.

... What did you make me read? The chapter started off great... and then what the hell just happened? I am so baffled by what happened in the second half of this chapter to leave my usually somewhat long review in this. Dan and the others losing is one thing... BUT! What the hell is that power level right there?! That is in no way normal at all! And the aftermath of it... I cannot believe you went and did that to them! Not only did Dan get stabbed badly by Riaan's sword, you practically killed off Code Eve! Not only that, but you made the lives of both Gundalians and Neathians be nothing but lies! Aberrations! Mistakes! I cannot process my head around the chapter as a whole when you went and dumped this sort of big gun on us!

On another note, Luke and crew managed to arrive and get Dan and the others away from that horrid scene. Let us see... if they can pull off a miracle next chapter.
