Actually, I think Annabeth was one of the first children of Athena to make it as far as she did with Arachne. Because in that one scene where she had to jump from the explosion and she broke her ankle she said that most of the skeletons were in that room where the stone people were (sorry I can't remember what they're called). So it's a possibility Arachne didn't have as much experience as we thought? I could be wrong because I haven't read the book in awhile. Just a thought.
