Cool concept but I doubt Naruto would make a better Samurai than he would a Ninja.

If Ninja are supposed to be quiet and stealthy, then Samurai are supposed to be quiet and bright. Hardened. Focus. The whole "walk quietly and carry a big stick" but instead of big stick it was an insane amount of training with spears, swords, fists, horses, and bows among a severe adherence to Budo.

Not to poke holes in the plot or characterizations (let's face it, Naruto is more bruiser swordsman than he is cultivated bushi in any respect) but I couldn't see the Uzumaki as someone who has the strictest tenants to follow. He'd definitely be Mugen from Samurai Champloo, a rogue warrior with an unorthodox style.

Ninja may have rules, but Samurai are the epitome of focus and rule following. Most would rather kill themselves than to fail or break the rules-and not rules as in "always follow your dreams believeittttt" but more like the eight really important virtues of bushido: righteousness, courage, benevolence, respect, sincerity, honor, loyalty and self-control.

Just this chapter alone he destroyed self control and respect. Granted he's still young and in training, but he's also at the age where one of his classmates has not one but two live blades.

I do give you ENORMOUS props for not giving Naruto two/three/a billion swords, not having it on his back (this one kills me the most. Back/shoulder drawing only works for swords shorter than your arm by a hand length), or giving him a sword bigger than his dream. I legit cheered at dodging those props. So thank you for avoiding those sword!Naruto tropes.

And I get it, I get it, it's not a real!samurai!Naruto, but I've been aching for a Samurai!Naruto for ages and was hoping this was it. Great story for what it's worth!

Prime sannin my ass he beat non Sage mode Jiraiya, non nigh immortal Oro, and sealed Tsunade. Jiraiya "Mastered" Sage mode after finished training Nagato. Oro became near immortal after he betray the leaf, Tsunade hundred healing is used first time when she fight Orochimaru in part one(if she used it when they fight hanzo Oro wouldnot be surprised when she use it). If that hanzo fighting the current sannin one on one he get stomped lol. Hanzo was defeated by six path of pain(Deva path with only one Shinta tensei) while pain himself admit that Sage mode Jiraiya can beat him if he know there are six bodies, Tsunade tanked Konoha busting Shinta tensei, Oro can Shed his skin and heal all the damage. Let alone three on one, he get stomped harder than when "fighthing" pain.

Yeah mifune beat hanzo who is Edo tensei(weaker than when they are alive) also that hanzo is already old i.e. even weaker than the prime hanzo who beat inexperience sannin(sannin is the title hanzo give them
after he beat them that means they are not even sannin when fighthing him) so old mifune beat weaker version of old hanzo who is a trash compared to the experienced sannin (Jiraiya beat him with Sage mode, Orochimaru is nigh immortal and immune to poison, Tsunade have hundred healing seal and she is the reason Oro and Jiraiya still alive when they fighting hanzo so poison is just minor annoyance) so you giving example of mifune beat hanzo who is old and even weaker by edo tensei is not correct about underdog beating powerfull character.
