I could have sworn I left a review on this when I first read it, but apparently not. I come back to this story every few months and read it because it’s so damn good. You did everything perfectly. My only complaint is that there isn’t more! :D
But seriously, I love that you wrote this to address the ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE PLOT/CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT HOLE that was the second half of season 11. That was just obscene. The writers do such a great job in The Man Who Knew Too Much, S7, and mid-S11 of conveying the appalling scale of Sam’s trauma and strength and then totally forget about it. I enjoyed how he stole Sam’s room but then the writers missed out on the golden opportunity for something like you’ve written. You do a wonderful job of portraying the existential fear and the momentary collapse of Sam’s psyche induced by Lucifer’s presence and taunting. Was an especially nice touch to have Lucifer accuse Sam of overreacting, just to fuck with his head that extra step. I appreciated Dean’s chapter far more than I anticipated. One would hope Dean would be aware of how difficult this is for Sam but the show makes no indication of that. So it was satisfying to see how Dean would have handled a situation like this.

I loved this. Personally, I kind of liked that Sam was able to hold his own. He's gone through so incredibly much since "Swan Song" and I think he has a little more confidence in himself. I loved the way Jared played the time in the small cage with Lucifer and I think you nailed it that he was a little more comforted by Dean and Chuck being around. That said, if he was caught alone in a small room with Lucifer I think his reaction would be exactly what you wrote! And how horrible that Lucifer wears the face of a close friend and an angel! Yikes!
Also, I notice that you usually ask for no "mean" reviews. I think it is awful that you even NEED to say that! I get so angry when I read reviews that are just "evil"! You are sharing your amazing talent with us, for free no less, and some really people feel they have the right to rake you over the coals! This is the perfect example for "if you can't say something nice (or maybe kindly constructive), then shut the hell up"!

I appreciate you bringing attention to the way they kind of brushed over Sam's trauma. Its good to see it taken more seriously.
On the other hand though, speaking as an abuse survivor the way it happened in the series is a lot more chilling and realistic to me. Whenever I see my abuser again or anyone close to him it's never something we talk about. Everyone just acts like everything is normal.
I guess I would almost rather things were like they are in this story where everything is out in the open and Sam feels protected and cared about.

You're not the only one who felt like, WTF guys? Sam was tortured for centuries by this guy and now he's acting like it doesn't bother him? We all know how strong Sam is, but that he's not traumitised a bit? Thank you for writing this!

I love this so much! You did an excellent job of describing derealization and panic attacks. Someone mentioned that there was a cut scene that dealt with the way Sam would probably be feeling. I wish they hadn't cut it, bc it would have added a lot to the episode and his overall character. I very much enjoyed this story 3

I am definitely one of the people who thought Show did a lousy job of dealing with what would have to be Sam's trauma having Lucifer in the bunker. I believe Jared commented on it at a recent con, because a scene was edited out that did just that. I very much enjoyed your story, and consider it to be "canon" for this episode. You captured both boys very well. I'm so impressed by Sam's strength and Dean's understanding of his brother. Who but another escapee from Hell could begin to grasp the terror Sam has to be feeling. By the way, I still can't believe Chuck left Lucifer loose on Earth when he left with Amara at the end of the season. And am I the only person who thought Amara had killed him when she blew him out of Cas? I was really shocked when he showed up in season 12.

This was really good, I really enjoyed it! I just have one remark for you: the expression is "to have another think coming", rather than "another thing". "If you think ..., then you have another think coming!" ;) Many people make that mistake! Well done for this story, it improved a rather sore point in the show!
