Somehow, I don't think Doan will be all that shocked when she sees Secret's operator for the first time. Additionally, I think she may hug the operator too.

Also, through the narrative of this chapter, I couldn't tell if Secret's operator is still coming to terms with what/who they are (and thus explaining some of the Cephalon's comments as subtle encouragement and therapy), or if something else is going on.

I ask because certain parts of the game's lore make Transference a very personal thing once the Tenno learns to do so while awake, one that seems to make self-reflection on the Tenno's part necessary. Some of the dialogue seemed to imply that Secret didn't remember his time on the Zariman, or perhaps that something else entirely is going on. I'll wait and see how that part develops.

Honestly, seeing Secret's operator might make Doan reconsider the use of all her implants, too - and be one more small crack in her conditioning. Her sanity's done an admirable job of keeping itself together with all the hits her imposed world(system?)-view has taken, and I think she'd be able to roll with that one too pretty well.

You're absolutely right, though - a Valkyr in Rathuum is in no way, shape, or form a fair fight, by any stretch of the imagination.

You've also got me thinking of the Valkyr Prime setup I use, which includes all three Umbral mods (maxed out, of course), along with Eternal War and some other QoL mods - and chuckling evilly.

The Valkyr that Doan was watching may not have had quite that setup, but it really doesn't take Umbral mods and ability augments to make Valkyr a very scary prospect to face.

Well! That was a clever bit of catch-up to "current," well done!

And yeah, I get Secret's viewpoint here. The Sentients can almost be thought of as an elder sibling species to the Tenno, as both were made by Orokin hands, for Orokin purposes. And, both struck back against their creators for exactly the same reason.

The Tenno just planned theirs better. :)

There is a part of me that thinks that Tenno might actually have an easier time making peace with the Sentients than they could with the Grineer or Corpus, simply because once they start talking together, they're starting with much more common ground.

And, of course, the sheer breadth and depth of shenanigans that the two peoples could accomplish together is actually a bit dizzying. Moreover, it also falls into old martial arts philosophy - if you've spent years fighting your enemy to a stalemate, just imagine if both were focusing their attention in the same direction.

Anyway, nonsense aside - good chapter, and the narration was just great. Also, I get a hilarious twin vibe from Silence toward Secret this chapter. In fairness, the two have likely fought together for so long they practically are siblings anyway.

I find the idea of Silence to be the chattiest Tenno in the origin system to be hilarious!

I loved this style of writing. Kinda shocking Doan is so savvy with the written word its beautiful.

This is such an interesting story, Ive only just gotten into warframe myself and so had to find stories on it. This is very entertaining!

You know, I can easily see a Hydroid wearing a Santa hat on a relay during the winter months. "Oh - yeah, the Tenno started this when they came back. It involves helping people instead of screwing them over like the Corpus and Grineer love to do, so we kept it going."

Of course, I'm still waiting to see how further storyline stuff is going to go. I'm guessing that at some point reasonably soon, Silence and Secret will regain themselves, and their ability to speak. Things might start getting even more interesting then. :D

There's a part of me that wants to get Anaya's reaction to watching Doan work here. It's never been said directly that Doan has a frighteningly effective tactical mind, but it's been hinted at repeatedly. -and it's on display here.

I can totally see Tenno watching what she does with buckets of popcorn and making bets.

I really enjoyed this. Little things like this go a long way toward helping the characters grow.
