Interesting premise here. By the way, I have to say, I like your other story: Warcrafters. However, you only have it on Sufficientvelocity and AO3. AO acts very weirdly to guest browsers, asking if you to consent to terms of service and privacy policy. It's like they only want authors to read stories there, not guests. I am willing to bet people like myself are not interested in making accounts there and only want to read. Maybe you could post Warcrafters on another site? Like perhaps Spacebattles, or here on ? Anyway, good luck on your other stories.

Okay, so, for most disabilities, your philosophy isn't bad. For nearly all of them. For some people, the fixes we have are imperfect, and only as good as a person's welcome in a space. Ie, if a person keeps patting me on the head and telling me what an inspiration I am, then all the social tech in the world won't do me a lick of good if I'm too ashamed or angry to use it.

If person doesn't have what they need available at a time and space, it does them no good. The technology is likely to cost me a lot of money if it even exists. Guess what I don't have? Also, I may have to worry about my social skills, but I don't have to worry about enjoying things. In fact, I have an appreciation for the uniqueness of my ability to enjoy things. It's worth the lack of social skills coming naturally.

I'm not going to be stupid and say that you enjoy things less or that you're incapable of enjoying things, or say that I wish a cure on you, but I will say this. You, for all of your writing skill, and how well you do it, have some nasty ideas about blunt honesty that transgresses that particular line. Manners cost you nothing and hurt no one. Calling people a name they don't like and no longer means what you're using it for isn't blunt honesty. It's rude, and it should be beneath you.

Now that I've used up all but maybe one of my reviews for this set of updates, I'll finish with this. Go read Longfellow's poem about the little girl. That's you. Keep being awesome, and leave the rest of it behind.
