I am actually fascinated by Narcissa. She is a quite background character in so many important events.
Lucius is a manipulator, blackmailer, ruthless businessman with a vibe similar to a gentleman mafia leader. Lucius was willing to unleash a dangerous weapon upon a school and kill children in either anger (HP) or in cold blood (GW).
However all I can recall seeing of Narcissa was a loving mother held hostage in her own home.

Even monsters have lives.
(But are they monsters or just human beings...?)

Interesting first chapter

I've been reading through all your stories (love them by the way) but stopped after the first chapter in this one for now. Knowing your writing style, you'll probably have me crying in a few chapters and I don't really want to right now. Brava, on your ability to really bring out the emotions in your characters.

Cissa is a sly one. Lucius should be in jail.

Sorry but Purebloods should be allowed to breed themselves out of existence. It would serve the bigots right, a bit like the Chinese killing baby girls and now having to import brides from Korea for their fat only sons.

Beautifully written, but I did have a few concerns.

It would have been nice to see Narcissa slowly fall in loveshe seemed to fall in love over the course of a paragraph, which was a little disappointing.

Anything after 24 weeks is a stillbirth, not a miscarriage. You could have made this darkerconstant losses, a child they chose to abandon or kill due to deformity, a squib sent elsewhere etc

Harry was a year old when Voldemort was 'killed' not 2 months old. So given that you made Draco a month older than Harry, the timeline differs from the canon.

It would have been interesting to have Narcissa reflect on her losses in the context of her pureblood and what she knew about the inbreeding.

Really nice, I like the point of view of a woman who is persuaded to participate (with her husband) in The Right Thing while collaborating with Evil. I was born and I have been brought up in the Communist Czechoslovakia. How many people like that I knew!
