We miss you

I just read this story again, and somehow, it was even BETTER than the first time. This story is a work of art. Please update when you get the chance! I can't wait for Act Four and Act Five.

I'm still updating, hoping that one day there will be acts 4 and 5! Great story!

I love the story of Astrid fighting off suitors, and Hiccup being there fighting for her hand. However, it just seems too unrealistic for Hiccup to beat Astrid. I'm not saying that Hiccup wouldn't have the ability to put up a fight, he just is not as skilled or as strong as Astrid (even with her having fought others beforehand). This is where Astrid excels; she is a master in combat and tactics, in the same way Hiccup is a master when it comes to dragon behaviour and dragon riding.
It would have made much more sense for Hiccup to lose after a long fight, leaving the king to make a decision later on. It would have calmed Astrid's anger towards Hiccup, and would have given him time to make up for his lying and to explain himself. He still lasted longer than all of Astrid's opponents, which would have immediately made him stand out as the best suitor anyway.
All that will happen now is Astrid will hold resentment. He (someone much less skilled in combat) just bested her in front of everyone, and through distraction and superior weaponry no less (e.g. the cloud of Zippleback gas), putting her at a disadvantage. She will resent him, and given Astrid's ability to hold a grudge, I find it incredibly unlikely that she will even forgive him. Not unless a rematch is ordered on even grounds, which would allow her to restore her honour, which Hiccup took away.
I'm a huge fan of Hiccup and Astrid, but Hiccup just would not win. The Hiccup we know would lose on purpose if it meant keeping Astrid happy, not that that would be needed in hand to hand combat (flashback to HTTYD2 in the dragon race).
