Wow, this chapter was INTENSE! I love how Mario still cares a lot for Peach, to the point that he still came to rescue her. Even Pauline was pretty nice in this chapter - I doubt it was easy for her to offer to apologise. And the part with Bowser was perfectly written! It was so... Bowser. I felt so sorry for him - for him and Peach. This was one of the best chapters so far and I am so excited to see what happens next!
FountainPenguin chapter 25 . 8/27/2018
About time that Bowser broke down and turned to his morally-gray and evil ways. I was hoping he would. I mean, I hate that it had to happen, but at the same time... It just feels right, you know? I really loved watching the dynamic between him and Peach play out through all their years together.

I really enjoyed the way you balance Peach's character here. Just the right amount of innocence, just the right amount of stubborn bright, just the right amount of sobbing and feeling sorry for herself, and just the right amount of kicking butt. She's perfect.

I love how she puts her shoes back on after using them to break down the door. Then she goes downstairs, rings her limo driver, and calmly reads a book. This girl. Incredible. Her "The game is over" line just kills me. Video game princess is not here to mess around.

Lastly, I love the imagery offered by the night filled to the brim with beautiful stars. Peach is stepping into a bright, beautiful world, and I'm all here for it. Congrats to "Smoke" for its anniversary, and your for spending your time to write such a lovely story and bring to life such a beautiful world. And thus... we reach our end. I truly enjoyed every single step of it along the way.
FountainPenguin chapter 24 . 8/19/2018
I do so love the way you portray Peach through Mario's eyes, describing the high-maintenance personality he's not looking forward to dealing with throughout the wedding reception, and all the emotions playing across her face- jealousy included. You don't try to paint any character as a perfect angel.

Also, it sounds EXACTLY like Peach to give up on being the bridesmaid to slip in with the crowd. She has that sort of "I want to be treated like a regular person" stereotype around her in an innocent, humble, very sweet way, while at the same time expecting to be completely adored by everybody all the time. She's emotionally fragile in a way that I think is really necessary for her character, and you honestly have my favorite Peach portrayal I've ever seen in 'fic before. I don't know how you did it, but you struck that perfect balance between sweet and spicy, bold and quiet, someone who could be kidnapped by Bowser and cry for help, yet still be able to fend for herself a lot of the time. Poor girl has had such a rough time lately.

I really liked this chapter a lot, especially Bowser showing up and simply bashing his way through the guards because he "didn't want to waste time". And not just plowing into the church and causing a scene as he kidnaps his gal. Although, I would have loved to see that little snippet with Pauline expanded a bit more. Ah, well. I'm sure Mario will fill us in on the aftermath.

Like I said before, I really enjoy this 'fic because you've demonized nobody. Even Bowser, amazingly enough. This is a story about complicated people dealing with complicated emotions and just trying to be as happy as life allows them. I love it.

I honestly can't tell how this story will end. You've aligned it with canon very well, it seems crazy to imagine Bowser could end up with anyone besides Clawdia, and Peach with anyone besides Mario. And yet... I can see those working out too. If there was any time Peach would accept Bowser's advances, it would be after Mario betrayed her like this. I just can't predict where this story is taking us from here, and I absolutely love that. It's an adventure. Good luck on writing more soon! I look forward to it.

IBD Ninja chapter 23 . 7/27/2018
Good one, Daisy- the whole “I know you’ll hate it” part made me laugh!
FountainPenguin chapter 23 . 7/27/2018
I can't stop laughing at the mental image of Bowser walking into a gas station and buying a princess a six-pack of cream soda. I love it. Although I'm not sure what to say about the Sarasaland palace guards (or rather, lack thereof).

Bowser and Daisy are going shopping for wedding dresses together and I cannot even believe them. Daisy is so chill. Sarasaland in general seems so chill.

I do agree that there is some excellent juxtaposition at work with Daisy and Clawdia here. Bowser is still reserved and awkward around Clawdia, keeping secrets from her and not telling her he doesn't really want to marry her if it can be avoided. Then he walks out on his potential wife to buy cream soda for a princess he once kidnapped. He definitely has some vulnerability with her, you're right. He didn't let his feelings come pouring out, but then, I wouldn't expect them to. I think he shared just the right amount of information with Daisy.

Not only that, but Bowser does seem to care more about Peach right now than Mario does. Specifically, he's trying to see things from her perspective and be understanding, while Mario just found himself increasingly annoyed and wants Peach to do things his way. So although Mario doesn't appear in this chapter, you made Bowser an excellent foil for him by having them react to the same person and her situation. Well done.

And it's certainly very interesting to hear Daisy cautiously encourage Bowser to pursue Peach if he truly does love her. Didn't see that one coming.
