So, what have here is a plot in service of its characters instead of the other way around. Why weren't you show running the Defenders? It could have used your insights. The people I loved from their respective first seasons are alive and well. The Defenders Redeemed.

I was shocked at how well I was able to visualize this chapter. I am impressed by you. Your writing is simple and direct, but crisp and professional. You capture voices well, and you bring out characterization in a way that seems effortless, and speaking as someone who was harshly critical of (HATED) basically everything after Daredevil Season 1 (I worshipped this single season) and JJ Season 1 (excellence), I appreciate your enthusiasm for the characters, something the people getting paid the big bucks lacked. Really like that you let the supporting cast shine on, too. Will be following along.

The plot is well developed. I like the length of your story. It is long enough to be a novel. I was not a comic book reader as a kid but love sci-fi novels. I hope you are published.

You seem to sometimes forget Matt is blind... "he might have tried to spy her sleek silhouette" He can't "spy" anything. He can't see. This isn't the only example this either. But other than periodically forgetting the blindness of said devil, this is a pretty good fic. Still annoying though...

Whilst I get Jessica's strategy, at some point, she has to give the rest of the Defenders the respect and courtesy of letting them know that things are more complex than they think.

I'm seriously wondering who is the dominant here. Vanessa seems to be manipulating Fisk the way he once manipulated New York for his own benefit. Is she really motivated by her love for him (something about which I have no doubts) or is she suddenly seeing the chance to be the Queen of New York?

One thing is certain though: There is another party, one about which we know almost nothing and they are definitely the Big Bads here. For the very first time in many years, the Kingpin of Crime is someone else's pawn. Who could they be? I'm wondering if they are the people who ordered Frank Castle's life support system turned off after the murder of his family.

No matter what the answer, Matt has learned that, instead of being at the centre of the maze, he is only succeeded in opening the door to its entrance.
