LumiYnx chapter 2 . 8/1/2019 Damn. This is so Awesome and addicting |
Raveness chapter 2 . 11/9/2018 And then, as the finale of the cursed tones, De capo al Fine. Repeat at Fine, the End. That's how I'd like to imagine the End. |
YoseiOfTheWest chapter 2 . 2/23/2018 This is THE BEST thing I've ever read. It wasn't very long, and I do wish there was more (I'm so intrigued by this, like, you have no idea), but that ending was PERFECT! The ambiguity, the ambience- There was just SO MUCH I CANT EVEN RIGHT NOW AHHHHHHHH! 11/10 would read again! |
Smiling Seshat chapter 2 . 11/22/2017 This is probably one of the best SI/OC fics I've ever read, and I'm surprised it's so good despite being so short. I would love if you made this longer, added a sequel, or if you used your talent to write another, unconnected Naruto SI/OC. I'm off to see your profile and see if you have any more gems to offer! |
Our Brightest Stars chapter 2 . 10/23/2017 Wow. Just, wow, dude. Like, okay, I was at work and half-heartedly scrolling through a community I was tagged in, and found /this/ gem. Like holy shit, man. I'll be the first to admit that I know next to nothing about composing music or playing an instrument (I played [if one was being generous] the trombone in the 5th grade and I know some simple tunes on the piano, most notably Heart & Soul and that Beethoven tune everyone knows), but I didn't really have to in order to enjoy the story and its format. I absolutely /adore/ how unnerving and...discordant the vibe of the story is. At first, it's like any coming of age fan fiction, with a double life scenario thrown in and a bit of the macabre, seeing there's the whole ninja life aspect. But being in the perspective of a child, there's this naive and blunt narrative that adds a whole other level of disturbing, as it's all a /given/ for the OC. A fact of life. I'm reminded of the Yellow Wallpaper, a short story by Charlotte Gilman, about a woman who's slowly driven mad in such a way that she doesn't truly realize what is happening to her, how her perception is being warped and distorted. How everyone is being affected by her actions and mannerisms, and how it's done all so gradually that nothing can really be done until it's too late and she's reached beyond the moral event horizon. It's all so neatly paced, how the interest in music became an obsession and abetted the OC's madness, and then later used as a focusing tool almost. Or a documentation, rather, of said madness. I was actually extremely disappointed that there were only two chapters, but the end /was/ very fitting in its ambiguity, /especially/ the line of calling Itachi a muse, because it's so true! There's this contradicting, push-pull of want to kill Itachi but being incapable of doing it, not being able to destroy Itachi just like how the OC could not entirely successfully commit true suicide. The OC wanted to die, and has tried and sort of succeeded, but still continued to live a sort of half-life. And even if the OC did kill Itachi, Itachi would still be lingering in the mind, a shade of him would still exist in memory and in fantasy. It's just all so intriguing! I only really had a few problems, like having to constantly look up some terms or musical pieces. I didn't necessarily /have/ to, as I could have enjoyed the fic by itself, but the full context added that little bit extra to tie everything together. And how I'm not entirely sure how a feudal Konoha would have a grand piano instead of, say, a more time-appropriate like harpsichord or a zither maybe. Actually, a harp or koto might fit even better, considering the Japanese-ish origins of the whole Naruto verse and how the OC had some viola lessens at some point... Although, I'm not entirely sure how string instruments translate from one another. And then there was the whole not sleeping for "couple months" thing, as humans general could go a couple /weeks/ without sleep, but their own brain will actually forcibly knock them out whether they want to or not. /However/, that is only if I nitpick, and during the actual reading of the fic, those thoughts were mostly in passing or idle before I moved on to absorb the rest. One more thing that I must draw attention to, was how the OC is pretty much gender neutral, no really preference between Magdalena or Sasuke, and no really referring to oneself as firmly "male" or "female". It's really refreshing, especially because it had no real bearing on the story, it wasn't actually necessary nor the focus, a nice touch. In closing, I look forward to any future projects of yours, and you can be assured that you'll have a staunch supporter in them, -Stars |
