I KNEW IT. Ahem. I didn't exactly know it, but I had a very sneaking suspicious Isla wasn't gone. You talk about her too much. Please don't be a tease. Also, I straight up thought you were going to murder that old lady, and I am pretty sure I would have cried. I really enjoyed the split POVs, getting to see what was going on in different parts of the world. Things are so dark and so heavy, and I read this thing too fast. I have no idea where this is going, but I'm so glad we've got Mako back. Ashley without a team makes my heart heavy. She needs people very much.

Interesting story so far (I’m 3 chapters in). I guess being English, I was confused with your use of the word jumper? Isn’t that a sweater? I was confused when Ashley was wearing it with a cardigan HAHAHA. I thought, wow she’s wearing a lot of clothes isn’t she.

And another (not nitpicking, I was truly disconcerted when I read it!) is the fact that Kuwabara pulled out a home cooked meal from a brown paper bag. I’d understand if it was from a convenience store, but wouldn’t he have had a proper lunchbox? Or a bento?

Thank you for writing and sharing with us. You are right that it is odd to write a story about the world ending when things have changed so much over the past few months for a lot of the world. I am endlessly excited for part 2. Happy birthday to Ashley, and good on her for standing her ground! One day, maybe, just maybe, Hiei will see that Ash's tendencies to put others before herself is actually incredible strength and nowhere near the weakness he views it as.

So, the WWII vibes I was getting before were pretty spot on. Geez, so many implications I can't even handle them all. I knew this chapter was going to be a doozy, but this is something else. I just want to get to the next chapter to see what happens, man. My heart.

"Family deaths are never convenient" is a very foreboding line, and I don't know if you meant it that way. Also, my first thought on the saxophone player was "what kind of sax?" That comes from years of playing it myself.

Aaaaanyway, you have such a way of getting straight to the heart of matters. To that end, I'm genuinely afraid of reading the next chapter, but in an anticipatory kind of way. Knowing it's the end of part one doesn't help.

Holy cow, O. I regret taking this long to read this chapter because somehow I managed to forget just how much I adore your writing and this story. I love your analogies about love (Cyn's the best), and the line "You're my person" is my favorite thing ever. I've always been a fan of unconventional terms for the person you share a relationship with, and this one really hits home with me. A lot of what Hiei feels about the subject of love does, actually. Once again, another amazing job.
I'm so happy I started reading and stayed with this story. Thanks for sharing a bit of your own personal story as well. You've got my support in any way I can offer it, and I believe wholeheartedly in your ability to grow and heal. As far as I can see, you're already taking strides. Sorry for my unsolicited 2 cents!

Goodness, what a tender moment between Hiei and Ashley there at the end! I really commend you for being able to bring out a tender side in Hiei-it never feels forced in your writing. You updated so quickly and I've been a bit busy, but I am still going to review each chapter separately! Now, onto the end of Part 1...I don't think I'm ready.
