Wow, I found this one late. Well, better late than never and whatnot...

I always did wonder if Viktor took Anabelle's death harder than it would seem on the surface - especially since he's lost so many other people he cared for, and while his initial attempts at shrugging it off were valid enough to make him seem rational and accepting of it... there was definitely a nice build-up underneath of how depressed and pissed off he really was about it. Especially coming from someone he thought he could trust. Can't help but wonder if he ever truly forgave Jowy, too.

So, yeah, you wrote it all up very well without making him into a syrupy mess. It's definitely the exact way someone like Viktor would grieve and lash out, and echoing Flik's own situation with Odessa was great. They've got a very strong friendship, and while I certainly don't mind when people put them together, I really like that we didn't get that here. I suppose it could be read as such, but I'm glad the focus didn't go there, because it would've distracted from a really meaningful moment of friendship.

(I also liked the small bits of the other characters, including Nanami sticking up for Jowy despite everything, Riou just being concerned about Viktor... and Rina, because Rina. She amuses me.)

Anyway, wall-o-text on an old fix, but I couldn't not.

I really enjoy your suiko fics, especially 'Initiation' and I love your Viktor so much. I also adore this one but I don't think that viktor hates jowy so much... ok he's drunk and all but in the game viktor got really upset when he noticed that jess used riou and jowy as spies and jowy didn't managed to return in the first place. he nearly beated the crap out of jess if fitcher hadn't stopped him. so.. ich think he was really worried about the two of them.

anyway viktors reaction you gave was believable I must admit he scared me a little. I love the Viktor - Flik realition and in this one, it fits so well.

There are so very little fics I've read of Viktor that's still believable, especially when it concerns such a very hard subject as Anabelle's death, plus his past. Tying it all up with Flik's tragedy makes it all the harder, and you managed to pull it off beautifully. Thank you for sharing this.

What a wonderful, touching piece of writing. We all know there's more to Viktor than meets the eye and the cameraderie between him and Flik is just how I imagined it from the games.

I'd go aww, but that really wouldn't feel right for this fic, as it didn't strike me as "Cute" Per say.

More of a brotherly bond, than anything Yaoi, and that is a tough line to walk, to make a fic like this good, without falling into "OMG THEY ARE SO YAOI LOLOLOLOL", however making so that if someone wanted to take it that way they could, Is a great feat.

I really enjoyed this. Flik and Viktor were very in character, and I liked how you portrayed them as good buddies who are there for each other without making it into a pairing (as far as I can tell). Nice job.

E! (I am such a Viktor fan-girl. I was ever-so-dissapointed when the 'Fliktor' team didn't show in I- they been on the Harmonia/Dunan border just three years earlier, too, according to Konami... sigh...) Thank you for whriting a great piece! Keep up the good work in the future!

Just read your story and really liked it. I'm so glad it wasn't one of those Fliktor one, I'm kinda tired of see those around. I like the way you made them there for each other with out makeing them 'there' for each other. Nice work.

Hm, I spent most of the fic trying to figure out whether this was a Flik/Viktor pairing or not. I'm still not sure. I guess it's up to interpretation. There are a few lines in there I could read multiple ways.

I like the way you built up to Viktor's getting angry. I could really see it happening and it was scary. O_o;;
