Reviews for The Prince and The Shipwright
PSW chapter 18 . 9/12/2015
This was very well done. Poor kiddo, what a rough road... Thanks for writing!
Celebrusc chapter 18 . 3/27/2013
Love it!
VioTanequil chapter 1 . 8/10/2012
Fantastic. I wish I were a little more eloquent - and thus better able to describe how much I adore your fic, but sadly I am not.

I love how you write these characters. It's just amazing how you manage to flesh them out so well. Thank you for sharing. :)
Fortune Zyne chapter 18 . 5/27/2012
Aw, I'm sad this was discontinued as well, it was good. Poor Ereinion, so little and going through so much trauma. He's elven so that's like 6 or something in Elven years I believe.
Glory Bee chapter 8 . 1/10/2012
It is heartrending to see how desperately Ereinion is trying to make a connection with Cirdan and how totally lacking in compassion Cirdan is. :(( My heart goes out to the sad little elfling.
Amy M. Black chapter 18 . 12/4/2011
Hello!

I see you haven't updated this story for a very long time, but still... I can't say how much I love your Gil-galad stories, and particularly this one. The poor thing is so young and adorable, so helpless...

Some moments that make me really love this story: Círdan's awkwardness when holding hands... Ereinion not knowing who he is and addressing a random elf instead... the phrase: "I like you, Círdan. You find things."... the moment when Círdan reflects how Ereinion looks like a King about to die for his people, which is exactly what will happen some 3500 years later... and the fact that they are starting to know each other, and I think Círdan is starting to grow fond of little Ereinion. Yeah, we know he will eventually, but still... it is a hearbreaking story, from the very beginning.

I'm sorry if this review doesn't make much sense and is too long, I just want to encourage you not to abandon this fic. Your writing style is beautiful and the story is very in-character. I'd love to hear more from The Prince and the Shipwright soon.
chisscientist chapter 18 . 4/26/2009
I enjoyed this story. One cannot help but feel very sorry for Ereinion. I am not quite sure where it is going plot-wise, but really you're the only one who can answer that. I'm assuming it is not finished to the point where you intended it to end. In any case, thank you for writing.
Beloved Fool chapter 1 . 1/23/2009
Waa, such an adorable story. I like the way you write Ereinion, and Cirdan especially. I can definitely see him warming a little more to the elfling. The way h plays with his toy soldiers really got me too. Please don't abandon this story!

Hey again Dragon!

Here'a another one I should have reviewed long ago. This one is so great! I've always been fascinated by the thought of little Ereinion being sent away from his home to live in a strange land with a gruff old shipwright, but Tolkien doesn't really give us much detail. You, however, have filled in the gaps marvelously!

I love your portrayal of these two characters and their relationship! I can really relate to how poor little Ereinion is feeling, and it makes me sad. And it's all the more moving when you think that these are the same Elves who march to Mordor together almost three and a half thousand years later.

It also makes me more empathetic toward Cirdan when I think of Gil-galad's death. He really was like a son, as reluctant as the old Shipwright may have been to admit it. So sad!

Ah, but this is a simply fantastic story! Any hope of an update, or are you done with it? It doesn't say it's complete up at the top, but if you did want to end it here, it would be a good place. Sorry for the long review, but I LOVE this fic!

ttyl!

Halo
Woman of the Dunedain chapter 7 . 6/15/2005
Even more strangely, his hair did not seem to know where it should live, and had grown all over his face like the hedgehog that he and his Naneth had once found in the woods.

That is priceless!
Woman of the Dunedain chapter 5 . 6/15/2005
Oh, come on now. Taking him away from his parents? Sad, but necessary. Long grueling journey full of danger? Regretable. But losing his Arassë? You are truly a cruel person.

Fascinating story. Levade reccomended it, so here I am!
Ronya chapter 1 . 2/23/2005
Thank you very much for the story. I read it with great interest and with tears in my eyes sometimes, frankly speaking. Though some details seemed "too human" of not suitable to elves, but I know that every one imagines differently. As for the scenes that I liked best - that's, of course, Ereinion's attempt to run home (exactly what the son of Fingon would do!) - it's so real that I could almost see it with my eyes, thank you very much for that part. The scene, where Ereinion adds his father's and grandfather's name to his own touched me deeply. And I also treasured every little thing that Ereinion remebered about his father and grandfather. Those reminiscences created very believable images of both Fingon and Fingolfin.

I hope very much that you continue the story, for I have read it twice already and will be looking for more :)

Sorry for my mistakes - English is not my native language.
delumacar chapter 18 . 2/22/2005
Great story. Angsty and sad. I love little Ereinion, poor him, and Cirdan. You dont see many stories about Gil Galads childhood, please update soon!
