It was so cool of you to give us two endings. As this is fictions we ourselves could write our own endings to our liking. But your understanding of the need to get into the authors head and read their versions even if we end of hating it is precious. In this case I loved both versions and also liked lot the story.
I think the portrayal of mamoru was one of my favorite part due to the lack of it in most escaflowne fanfic.

I thought the first ending was it! I can't deal with that, I'm too soft hearted! Thank you for writing, I love it! Even more so I love the alternative ending, seriously, thank you so much for that! I loved your story though, very interesting, thanks agin!

Great story! Of course, I'm a sucker for happy endings and not quite so keen on sad endings. Anyway, I'm just glad you didn't leave the story with just the first ending. *shudders*

OMG I cried during the first ending. It was so sad, it was nice to read a happy ending right after though.

I can't decide which ending I like best but it was a very good read all around. I was a little confused at first about those black cloaked figures but it played out very well. Will defiantly be reading this again in the near future.
