I think I read this back in 2006, and I have remembered it ever since. And then I stumbled across it just now and thought, okay, this time I have to review.

It's just about perfectly written, the twist never overplayed, never too obvious. It's both funny and disturbing, as black comedy should be, but it gets downright horrifying when you see this image of the sweet, solicitous, conscientious Gremio using little Tir as his taste tester. Yikes. YIKES. That pitches it firmly out of black comedy and into, I don't know, domestic horror.

What really makes it work though is that everyone, Gremio in particular, is still in character. Not that I think he'd actually do it. I hope he wouldn't. But if he did, it would sound exactly like this.

As for crit, there doesn't seem much point on harping about tiny issues in a fic that's nearly a decade old, so I won't. Besides, for the most part, I have trouble seeing how this could be improved on. All in all, a very disquieting and memorable story.

I think I can safely say that that was one of the single most disturbing things I have ever read in my entire life. O_o

Ah ah! I found it, I found it! I came across this what feels like *ages* ago, loved it, and lost track of it! But I found it! And you wrote it! I love you (but not in that creepy, stalker-ish way, I promise)!
Oh, I just love how you wrote Gremio. He is, without fail, my favorite suikoden character, ever. And this...lovely. Slightly disturbing, yes, but strangely lovely, too. Love love love this.

I can actually see him doing something like that too, in order to protect the McDohls. I mean, he DID die for his 'young master' and all.

A lot of people tend to show him as kinda wimpy though. I'm glad that someone sees him like I do; a REALLY determined protector! _

Oh god. I think I posted my opinion in your LJ, but wow. I KNEW Gremio was up to something! He's #2 on my list of "sneaky bastards you gotta watch in the game". Leknaat would be #1. But anyway, it's well-written, and certantly is original. And THAT'S what should happen to every Mary Sue in the Suiko world!

Wow. That's definately one of the best fics involving cannibalism that I've ever read. Your Gremio disturbs and delights me at the same time.
