The tension between Emma and J is driving me nuts, excellently written! I really like your OC, she is interesting and relatable as an actual person.

I think It's a testament to how far Joker and Emma have come in their relationship if the man is patient enough to say "Listen" and being 'considerate' towards an angry Emma after being hit twice.

Any other person would've been dead, mutilated, and promptly turned into a bloody mess all over the bathroom if they were insolent enough to irritate the Joker, and that's what amazes me.

What does he want out of her if he is THAT patient with her? The summary of this story said that Emma is not queen, emphasis on the "not yet" part.

I think the Joker is fooling himself as well because from the moment he met her, she's been a surprise after surprise that has made the Joker change his perception of her, so even if he might never "have the capability to love" her like a normal human, the only inevitable death I see for Emma is her identity and not him actually killing her.

At this point, I might be going on a stretch, but it's pretty obvious that Emma is the Joker's 'soulmate', she just has to awaken the full potential he saw in her when they first met so that the concept of Joker having a partner looks more conceivable and not just this 'delulu fangirl's' observation.

Also, I don't really think Emma is the one who lost here, The Joker Is the one who came to her, and even riled her up just so it could happen.

This series reminds me of the lyrics to Eminem's second part of his 'Love the Way You Lie' song:

"...and now this thing turned out so evil,

I don't know why I'm still surprised.

And even angels have their wicked schemes,

And you take that to new extremes,

But you'll always be my hero,

Even though you've lost your mind."

Then you know how the chorus goes.

I really feel like those lines embody this series. Kudos on the most well written, most riveting, and the most underrated OC.

(I mean really, even the SEX scenes have literary value, and THATS saying something when the nature of fanfictions and OC's are considered.)

Hi there! I’ve been a huge fan of your writing for a few years now, having read the Bad Jokes/Ringmaster series more times that I’m willing to admit (I liiiiiive for the rare moments where the Joker is willing to play the stereotypical boyfriend). I recently had a browse on your page just to see if there’d been any updates since, and was super psyched to find Funny Business and not just one, but two new installments to the Pasttimes series! I especially loved your characterization of Emma and Harley (wolf in sheep’s clothing/sheep in wolf’s clothing) and I can’t help but compare how Emma/Harley interpret the Joker’s actions (e.g. it seems like Harley sees J’s ‘affection’ as proof of manipulation but willfully ignores it to bask in the short-lived attention. Emma, on the other hand, sees it as a power play and can’t help but rise to the challenge even though she knows it’s a suicidal choice). I might be reading too much into the stories but either way, I’m loving it. Joker’s little tidbits on his worldview is also v v interesting from a socio/philosophical angle (sorry - I’m currently deep in revision and am starting to see Foucaultian reasoning in everything I read).

Tl;dr - LOVE your work, SO stoked that you’re still writing as of late 2017 (seriously, it wouldn’t be a exaggeration to say that i did a mental victory dance which would have been literal had my boyfriend not been sitting across me with a vaguely perplexed/amused look by my reaction).

I found this little trilogy story by accident, haven't really read FF in years, but I devoured this series in two days.
You have an exceptional ability for perfectly encapsulating the presence and mannerisms of the Joker. There's no suspension of universe-disbelief with your stories, it really feels like the character.
God knows I was chomping at the bitt for M and J to do the deed. Reading it was literal catharsis.

I cannot wait until Part 4 of this (hopefully Quartet) series comes out. Very excited to see what you do with it.

Wow! Wow! I'm so in love with these two! My god, perfect series, they're never going to stop wanting each other, they only care about each other too, very interesting and that you showed your Joker with some form of conscience, with wanting her to keep safe and let public think he forced her etc, he's just a human, a male being but chooses to do the monstrous acts he makes, and even though he's monstrous plenty of times to Emma, they aren't all monstrous, and that intrigues the hell out of me. Looking forward so much to the next part.

Wow. Just complete wow - I wish I could articulate a better response than that and so I'm going to try, because honestly I think you've written one of the best, if not the best, Joker stories ever. Easily. Emma is a perfect match for him. I like that you explain her decisions and it's something I'd like to work on in my own writing too - you do it so clearly, and when she's up against someone like the Joker, we understand her motives and reasoning so much more than with most characters. I've read each story over the last few days, dying to read more even when I had things to do (sorry college work). I loved it and can't wait for the next installment when and if you do continue it (I am praying that you do). Amazing work!

This line "He is… astonishingly steady, and keeps me going through the aftershocks for quite some time" is what makes your Joker incredible, there was no need for him to do that, if he is the monster he makes out to be, what we've witnessed and what he wants people to think of him, then that moment is conflicting, and shows how poignant this relationship is between them whatever is going on he's letting down barriers and becoming more vulnerable and being in more vulnerable situations with her.

I loved it! I can't wait for the next one.
