Damnnnnnn. I came here from Triscribe's idea of soulmates and I'm just wow. That's painful. I could feel Harry's anguish at the situation throughout he whole story, and Ginny at the end? A punch to the gut. 10/10

(TBH, I couldn't completely subscribe to it because my impression from canon was that it was Snape much more than Voldemort who left a mark on Harry's soul. At any rate, Harry hated Snape much more than he hated Voldemort - all the time and for everything. And it was also Snape whose death left him, in the end, ambivalent, conflicted, without ready words to confront him with. He could taunt Voldemort, and reflect the Killing Curse back on him and thus find closure, but according to JK, he took care to avoid ever actually meeting the Headmaster's portrait he'd fought to have painted and hung...)

I never got their phropisy cause if u think about it I’d might not of been old voldy it could have been the dark lord after him

This is the first fic that's given me a glimmer of belief in Harry/Ginny. I like the subtle emphasis (if that isn't an oxymoron) on their connection.

Also, nice twist on the trope.

The characters are marked by irony. Disillusionment and despair dog them. The mark is not 'mate' after all, just impact. I would be curious if any one ever understood that after such pain and disappointment.
I enjoyed the story and hope someone in their world figures it out.

So sad, and incredibly clever. I love how you found all those little "unimportant" moments from the books and drew attention to their meanings and their vital positions in the story. Beautifully written too. The breaks were really well placed and each soulmark was revealed at exactly the right time.
