Omg, when Derek kissed Addie in the on-call room! Kilig! I love how the scene in the scrub room shows how Addison knows Derek through and through and how little Meredith knows about him. Oh, and the whole OR scene! I love angsty, slow-burn, and complicated Addek so much. I wouldn't mind rereading this piece again and again.

Even though I am the fluffy fluff monster, I like this story because I think it's the most realistic to the characters as we actually saw them on the show. The inconsistencies, the back and forth, the ups and downs of their feelings toward each other. And I think this maybe is even better because we're seeing it directly from Addison's head.

And I think the last scene illustrates that so well: how once he stopped her from kissing him, and now she stopped him from kissing her. It's not just one-sided, but they both feel conflicted sometimes and- it just seems so human to go back and forth like that, if it makes any sense? Also I like this encounter and even though it's out of stress, hopefully it leads to some positive development in their relationship.

I also love seeing them together professionally, even when their personal relationship is not in a great place. How she knows what he needs to cool off and move past a less-than-desirable outcome.
All of that leads me to, I can't wait to see how in fact their relationship does end up here! The burn is slow and I'm completely ok with that here.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all these updates! All of your updates have been amazing, and this chapter was no exception. The scene in the on-call room was brilliant. I loved the part, "If he were to— / But he doesn't." It was so charged and emotional. Truly perfect. I also liked the connection you drew between the hotel room and the on-call room. The parallel was so smart and worked so perfectly. And I loved Addison's follow-up reflection, "Maybe things are actually hard for him, sometimes. Even if they always seem easy." That felt so realistic and in character.

As always, you did a flawless job showing just how well Addison knows Derek. It's something I always marvel at in your stories. I especially liked the scene in this chapter where Addison was able to gauge Derek's mood by the way his scrub cap was crumpled in his hand.

And her line, "people in glass hotel rooms" was a nice moment of levity in this very tense and heavy story.

I'm so excited that the next chapter is mostly written; I can't wait for more!

Wonderful chapter and I really enjoyed Addison stepping away, not allowing herself to give in was a great scene and important. I'm really excited to see the rest of this story, I did a brief reread of previous chapters and where this story is building up is going to be, as always, satisfying and so perfect for the separate story you've built for Addison and Derek that they didn't get in canon. As usual I am in awe with how you manage to write the two, their actions, Addie's thoughts, as so them even though in the grand scheme of things we didn't get much content. But everything fits, and I'm loving this story. Thank you for all the updates you're spoiling us with, each is a gift!

WHEEEEEEW. Loved it, as per usual. Down in the dumps Derek, strong, confident Addie, and competent Karev all at once. Loved a bit of snark from Addison to Meredith and love the way you emphasize that DEREK and MEREDITH don't really know each other.

Great chapter. So glad baby C is still with us. I wonder if Meredith will figure out a way to make the baby less lonely. Or if Addie will.

Omg I have missed this story, this Addison. My favorite Addison. What a way to get back into it, too! My heart was racing the entire chapter...and now I want to cry for poor baby C. Fingers crossed they work some kind of magic.

But also?

So … yeah. As far as I'm concerned, Grey can get on her knees in the middle of the OR if it means that Derek will be able to perform for Baby C.
