I can’t sit here and depend on either the ministry or the Dumbledork’s bird club to fix things. It’s up to us now.” - - So, if it's "Dumbledork’s bird club" and Fawkes is now Harry's famaliar, does that mean that any oaths that the members may have sworn specifically to "the Phoenix" (due to Dumbles' trickery) would now accrue to Fawkes and Harry, instead of Fawkes and Dumbles? ;-) It's not an original idea, and it is a bit deus ex machina, but your characterization of Dumbles is even more extreme than the several examples I've seen where other authors employed that useful gimmick. OTOH, It's not as prolific as the the gimmick where the returnee in a do-over fic replaces the bones of Riddle Sr by tranfiguring something else (squirrel bones, elemental potassium, etc.) in that cemetary at Little Hangleton. ( That really is a brilliantly simple concept, mucking with the ritual ingredients to mess with the Idiot's return. ;-) |
