Hope you havent given up...
Shadows Twilight chapter 4 . 7/9/2018
I don't know much about the Star Wars EU, but as a huge Firefly fan I am absolutely in love with the idea of RWBYJNPR playing the crew of Serenity (more or less). I love all of the personalities and relationships that you've given all of the characters, and I eagerly await the next installment.
Null-ray chapter 4 . 6/9/2018
This a fascinating attempt at a RWBY Space Opra AU. Though you have a lot of original jargon—or maybe not, I mostly limit myself to Star Wars—all of it is quite intelligible with context. Gotta love those goblygook swear words. I’m quite interested to see the unique relationships you build in the sand box of 8 people in a small freighter. You’ve also cleverly managed to allow the characters to retain some of their unique abilities and traits though spaclings and cast-offs. That star projector device is an absolutely devious way of crippling space travel, it surprises me how something so simple hasn’t been explored before in most sci-fi franchises.
It tinkles me pink to see how much effort you put into making things scientifically feasible and pointing out misconceptions in sci-fi and fantasy logic systems. As many of your works show, scientific accuracy adds to the immersion and suspension of disbelief more often than not. I look forward to seeing where the misadventures of the Beacon takes us, maybe they’ll run into a certain corvid or maybe a candle and ice-cream. ;P Tell the story how ever you wish.
openbookworm chapter 4 . 5/17/2018
This is a great story. The characters are amazing and the world you've built for the story seems fascination. I hope that we'll be able to see an update soon, but I'll be eagerly awaiting your next installment.
TrueMetis chapter 3 . 12/27/2017
Ah, so Jaune is the one responsible for the OS. I guess the issues come from other people interacting with it?
TrueMetis chapter 2 . 12/26/2017
Shouldn't the technopath have a pretty easy time opening a door? I'll assume he needs physical contact and the suit stops that.

Which brings me to the code in general. Since Jaune is a technopath wouldn't it make more sense to for the code be something Jaune put together and works really well, but since he "talks" to computers in a way other can't understand when they look at the code they see complete gibberish.

Really what's the point of Jaune being a technopath if he's not handling all the computer stuff?
Yakosh chapter 4 . 12/25/2017
For the author's notes, I'm pretty sure Beowolves are supposed to be the weakest Grimm, at least individually, though they're normally in packs.
A few of the stories I've read recently seem to have updated soon after I caught up on them despite having infrequent updates, which is nice. But damn, despite not making any sense, Grimm sound a lot more gross and terrifying (and a lot more of 'this is a horrible monster' vibe in general) here than in the original, considering they're monster/machine hybrids... as little sense as that makes.
sonalt chapter 4 . 12/24/2017
So the crew’s coming together with issues as a free extra. Blake’s silent and secretive, but properly social. Weiss complains about amenities but eager to fulfill orders, I guess her family made her used to more luxury and pressure to succeed. But Pyrrha… Pyrrha's good at faking been happy with false faces, so Jaune's worried about her being hollow inside. Nora might be working with her on how to upgrade her shield but Pyrrha is not connecting that much.

Cheryl Germinabunt's freak out was intense but says something about Pyrrha's actual social rank. While it doesn’t matter in Free Space, she’s horribly unused to people not being a problem. I do wonder how she took that headpat, maybe she’s seen Nora and Ruby get some, but that must have been very hard to process.

Good old Jaune turning classmates into family. Even if Nora wants to make him a Cyborg. It’’ll take Pyrrha a while to find something to make her happy and move to do something personal more than taking the cot whenever possible.

Vale might be a multi rotating ring station, but it’ll be a fun place since it’s full of old tech, weird people and lots of potential problems. The young women preaching about the return of the Maidens and terraforming of dead worlds is interesting. Perhaps that might end up important for them.

First thought on title was SCII. But it turns out Grimm are here even in space, and Port is studying them. That was a surprise. Surprised they were once humans rather than working with animal stock, but those are some serious issues, they are like terror units from old XCOM.

It took a lot of them to handle one and Pyrrha and to use her powers to twist the blades, Glynda used telekinesis, though assisted and Penny’s scuttering about with a full rig rather than internal storage. All of which adds up to a lot of potential issues and dangers coming out of the walls.
