Such a fabulous story! I seem to recall reading this story several years ago, and recently, MASH came up in a conversation with somebody and it spurred me to go watch some of my favorite episodes. That in turn, got me thinking about "That one really amazing C/M story I loved so much" and so I came back to determined to track this story down. I was so pleased to have found it again and I just poured through it in its entirety in the last two days. It was just as stunning as I remembered!

I seem to recall (and a thousand apologies if I am confusing you for another author) that this story might have belonged to a larger series? Did you write a post-war fic following this headcanon? Especially during their love making in this last chapter, there was a throw away line about them exploring "other new avenues" later that I think ended up being a chapter title in another sequel to this. Am I crazy? I can't now recall. But if that WAS you, and those stories do exist somewhere, I would LOVE to read them again. You characterize both Charles and Margaret so incredibly well (which is VERY hard to do), and I just can't get enough of it. Honestly, reading this story was like bumping into an old friend again. Thank you so much for reposting, and I hope you still find time to write, because you're very good at it.

I can't count the number of times I've read this entire story and each time I love it even more. Charles and Margaret being devious together, absolutely love it!

As I was saying the first time I tried to review this chapter I love how it's an outsider that picks up the vibe between Margaret and Charles. I also love how you're building up their slow-burning romance.

This chapter was so well-written. Hot and sexy! And yet still allowing Charles to be the gentleman he is which only makes this scene even hotter and sexier!

Those two adorable dorks, so overwhelmed by being in such close proximity to each other they can't even focus on the report! He kisses her hand, SQUEEE! exactly the type of first kiss I would expect from a gentlemansuch as Charles.

Flustered Margaret is adorable!

Poor Margaret, holding it together through such adversity, the shooting, the surgery, waiting for Charles to wake up from anesthesia and all it takes are those three little words from him and she completely loses it.
A very touching and realistic depiction of how she would react under such circumstances. Well done!

I LOVE THIS FIC SO MUCH! I have no words to describe how much I enjoyed this story! Even if you don't ship Charles and Margaret you have to admit it's brilliantly written and totally believable!
