Just lovely. Col. Fitzwilliam is one of my favorite characters. You've given him depth and a certain poetic heroism. Great job.

Lovely. I liked the subtle allusion to the qualities one should want in a wife - loyalty and strength before beauty. Nice to see the Colonel given a bit of depth, and to hear his honest opinion of Darcy too.

Thanks. I agree the the Colonel is often overlooke although he has the potential to be complex and heroic.

Personally, I have always wanted a happy ending for Richard, but this story leaves questions qbout that possibility. Nonetheless, it was beautifully written and perhaps you will write another story about Richard that goes beyond his soldering days.
