To be honest, the Skulls are more goofballs than real enemies. Probably the Gang I'm the most fond of (was that even English ? '_').
Now as for Zayne's next pokemon, since she is going to Wela Volcano, may I suggest Cubone ? It's smol and I think its temper could resonate with Zayne. And then have it evolve into Alolan Marowak. Its double type is sick and would make a great addition to the team, wouldn't it ?

Aaawww, a cutiefly ! That's like, the most adorable pokemon you could have gotten Zayne (not counting Jigglypuff and other fairy typed pokemon). It's just...smol 3 And June is definitly showing her Midday Lycanroc's behaviour already. Sweet !

Oh man I dont know why this fic hasnt gotten more reviews, I haven't enjoyed a fic that wasn't romance this thoroughly for years! Zayne and Sigmund are a fucking riot, their personalities have so many flaws and so many amazing parts too. I adore them, especially that Sig is like her . One that's a bit bent, but still better than hers. They make a wonderful story, and the addition of June is making them both grow, I love it! Also, I'm praying she becomes the Midnight Lycanroc, not only from my absolute adoration of it, but because it's a HILARIOUS mental image of this really intimidating werewolf being really exuberant, playful and joyous. I can't wait to see more of this story, it fits my tastes so well, an utter joy to read!

I'll be honest, as much as I'm enjoying the divergence from canon with the whole Hypno thing, it does kind of defeat the purpose of the story to not give your character a starter pokemon. Likewise, the "cynical and resentful Player Character" thing seems to be a common trope - for once I'd like to read a journey fanfic where the PC is actually excited and enthusiastic.

That said, you are a good writer, which is more than one can say for just about 99% of the authors on this site, so keep that up for sure.

Neat chapter. Zayne's expression and demeanor really contrasted Hau. It's pretty remarkable that she managed to mock Tapu Koko and not draw the full ire of the townsfolk.

I'm also not surprised she opted not to choose a starter pokemon, but curious if she does decide to change her mind. She effortlessly beat Hau and I do find it funny that she was caught off guard when he didn't get sad or upset when he lost.
