Not sure if you still plan to continue it, but I think this is brilliant. You've given Shizuka such a nuanced and enticing personality and backstory that is believable, at least in my opinion. She absolutely comes alive here. The rest of the writing is great too.

Wish there'd be more because everything so far has been fantastic and I can't say there's anything I don't like.

I am not seeing enough anger from Naruto for anything I am reading to feel real. For Shizuka pretty much admitting that she will never love him to her casual disregard for him outside of a future 'Clan Head' matters and the very controlling way she leads all of their interactions. It all feels like forced plot progression fueled by cold logic. Not seeing any feeling in pretty much anything going on except for selfishness. Great read...bad feels. Will see what future updates bring.

If she would base her actions and beliefs on the actions of one person, a person who, by the way, was of a very sensitive position and important rank in his village, and even want and possibly try to kill someone on the assumption he’d be like someone she hates, then Shizuka needs a serious asswhooping and a stern talking to.

Jiraiya was a Sannin, hooking up to another village was NEVER an option unless the Nadeshiko wanted to suffer a terrible case of no longer existing. He was Konona’s spymaster. Hooking up with another village is even less than not an option. He was both. Merely attempting to effectively chain him to the Nadeshiko could have resulted in Konoha delivering a very bloody reprisal on them.

Shizuka seems too dumb to be a shinobi so far in this fic. I mean, holy crap why hasn’t she or her village taken any of this into account?

Then there is Naruto, an Uzumaki (and so extremely closely bound to Konoha), apprentice of Konoha’s spymaster and sannin, and she didn’t even bother to learn anything about him so her assumption he wouldn’t uphold a promise is baseless.

Heck, I hope she feels bad when she learns of Naruto’s reputation for being batshit anal about keeping his promises. Hell, his whole reason for the training trip and everything is out of determination to fulfill an exceptionally stupid promise. Promises are what his personal world revolves around.

Sure, she doesn’t know him, but she never tried to. Willful ignorance excuses nothing.

This is an interesting story. My only problem is that Shizuka gains everything in this while naruto gains nothing. Shizuka can close off her heart if she wants to, but naruto would not put up with her attitude. He is being way too submissive. Them sharing the same bed was way too much. He wouldn’t let this girl who more or less is destroying his life that level of trust. She should be in a hotel.

Another problem was how he kept silent during the conversation on him getting a mistress. Naruto should have had plenty to say to that. She is demanding he marry her. He should have demanded she put her absolute best effort to make it work. He accepted the fight yes, but that doesn’t mean he has to take her negativity.

Your making Naruto a wimp! He keeps his word yes, but Shizuka is not Sakura. Naruto isn’t going to take her bull, he wouldn’t take Sasuke’s, Madara’s,or Obito’s, he will not take her’s,especially all he’s giving up.

Dude, holy fuck. This story is infinitely more deep than I thought it was. You have been fleshing out Shizuka wonderfully. You really are giving her life.
I honestly thought this was gonna be a B-tier story about Naru/Shizuka. It is way more than that. I honestly have no idea what you will come up with next. I can normally foresee the direction a story will take but not this time. You have really surprised me with how original/unique this story has been so far.
I'm guessing there will be some conflict with either Sakura and/or Hinata what with them being tagged in the characters? I don't really see you making it a Harem in any case.

Wonder if you have anything planned for his promise to Sakura in regard to Sasuke. It would be a huge blow to him to have to go back on that, at least.

I hate Konoha. That place is filled with hypocrites and liars thieves and murders. Then again it is a ninja village so what more can you expect. Right? I’d say fuck Konoha and just go back with Shizuka immediately. Hand in the resigna ion form and then leave. What are ninjas the only ones allowed to have any chakra? Then what so hey do about the failed academy students? They have chakra and some pretty useful techniques if mastered.
